Let me introduce myself, my name is Claudia and I am 34 years old and in December 2025 I was diagnosed with tongue cancer. Since then, everything has been a uphill battle. One thing that this Cancer has changed is the way that I can eat. Using a feeding tube to eat and take medication is a new experience. Has anyone had a feeding tube or known someone who has had one. #fyp #cancerawareness #fightingcancer #cancerjourney #cancersucks
Facing tongue cancer requires not only emotional strength but also adapting to significant changes in everyday life, especially regarding nutrition. When oral intake becomes difficult or impossible, feeding tubes become essential tools to maintain health and aid recovery. Based on my experience, using a feeding tube can feel daunting at first—there's an emotional adjustment to transitioning from normal eating to tube feeding, and physical challenges such as managing tube care and preventing infections. It’s important to educate yourself thoroughly about the types of feeding tubes available, such as nasogastric tubes or gastrostomy tubes, and understand what suits your medical needs best. Support from healthcare professionals, including dietitians and nurses, is invaluable—they help tailor nutrition plans to keep you nourished and monitor your progress closely. Connecting with others who have gone through similar experiences, such as in cancer support groups or online communities, made a big difference for me emotionally. Sharing stories helps reduce feelings of isolation and provides practical tips for coping with the challenges of tube feeding. Remember, while a feeding tube might seem like a limitation, it’s actually a powerful aid that sustains your body through difficult treatments and helps improve your strength. Embracing this new way of nourishment can ultimately empower your cancer journey, allowing you to focus your energy on healing and fighting forward.
