Fantasy series I haven’t finished and why

Anyone else lose steam when reading fantasy? No reason. Enjoying the books. Then your ADHD kicks in and you forget that you were reading them and as hard as you try to circle round you can’t? Did you read these one? Which one was your favorite? Bully me into reading them 😂

... Read moreYou know how sometimes a book cover just calls to you? That's exactly how I felt when I first saw the cover for 'Daughter of the Drowned Empire' by Frankie Diane Mallis. It's truly captivating, with those evocative colors and hints of a vast, mysterious world. You can just tell it's going to be an epic journey, full of rich lore and compelling characters. It's exactly why I picked it up, along with other stunning reads like 'Spark of the Everflame' and 'Trial of the Sun Queen.' But then, life happens, right? Or maybe it's just my brain telling me to chase the next shiny new release. I've found myself in the middle of these incredible series, loving every page, and then suddenly... I've lost my momentum. It's not that I dislike them – quite the opposite! Take 'Daughter of the Drowned Empire,' for instance. The concept is absolutely fascinating, pulling you into a world steeped in ancient secrets and powerful magic. I remember being completely hooked by the intricate world-building and the promise of a sweeping narrative. But when you're dealing with long series, sometimes that initial spark, that 'honeymoon phase' with a new book, just fades a little, and it becomes harder to pick it back up. I've been trying to figure out ways to get back into these stories. Maybe it's setting aside dedicated reading time, or joining a buddy read, or even just looking at the gorgeous cover art again to remember what drew me in. I mean, who wouldn't want to dive back into a world hinted at by the cover of 'Gild' or 'The High Mountain Court'? Each one promises such a unique adventure. When I look at the 'Daughter of the Drowned Empire' book cover again, I'm reminded of the potential for grand adventure and emotional depth within its pages. The artistry on these fantasy covers often tells a story in itself, enticing us with glimpses of the magic and mystery inside. It's a testament to how much effort goes into creating that first impression for readers. So, if you're like me and have a stack of unfinished fantasy series, know you're not alone! I'm really trying to make a concerted effort to revisit these incredible worlds. For 'Daughter of the Drowned Empire,' I'm hoping to pick up book two soon. What strategies do you use to stay engaged with a long series? Or which book cover has completely captivated you, drawing you into a series you just had to finish, despite the length?
