I added 1/4 cup sugar but that made it overly sweet to me. The whipping cream didn’t whip how I thought which is why I added sugar but it would’ve been just fine without it.
You can add anything you want like Oreos, chocolate chips, sprinkles, strawberries, safe cookie dough, etc.
You can use different flavor extracts as well how change the flavors of ice cream like mint.
It was delicious, creamy and sweet!
The freezing part took awhile but the making part only took about 15 minutes.
I had my 3 year old help make it too!
A good parent/kid activity.
Stay Cool!

Making homemade ice cream without a machine is a fantastic way to enjoy a delicious treat while involving the whole family in the kitchen. From my experience, using sweetened condensed milk combined with vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt creates a rich, creamy base that freezes beautifully. Whipping the heavy cream to firm peaks is key—it’s best to ensure your cream is very cold before whipping and use a chilled bowl to achieve the perfect texture. If you're worried about your cream not whipping well, try chilling your mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer for 10-15 minutes beforehand. This often helps cream whip faster and firmer without needing extra sugar. Speaking of sugar, while adding 1/4 cup can make the ice cream sweeter, it’s often unnecessary thanks to the condensed milk’s natural sweetness. One of the most fun parts of this recipe is customizing it. I love adding crushed Oreos or mini chocolate chips for a crunchy texture, but you can also experiment with strawberries, sprinkles, or even safe cookie dough chunks. Flavor extracts like mint add a refreshing twist—just a teaspoon of mint extract with a few drops of green food coloring can turn your ice cream into a colorful and tasty treat. For freezing, a metal container is ideal since it helps speed up the chilling process. Make sure to cover the ice cream tightly with plastic wrap to avoid ice crystals forming on the surface. While the freezing time is at least five hours or overnight, the prep takes just about 15 minutes, making this recipe quick and convenient. This no-churn ice cream is also a wonderful parent-kid activity; even toddlers can help with pouring and mixing ingredients, making it a delightful way to bond during the summer heat. Overall, the recipe yields a creamy, sweet dessert that's sure to beat the heat and satisfy your cravings without the need for expensive equipment.
