Market Matcha

🍵: lavender blue matcha ($7.00)

⭐️: 7.4/10

no queue, fast, and easy on a hot monday afternoon lunch break. the lavender blue matcha is a sweet combination of lavender syrup and butterfly blue pea, and it leads the flavours in every sip. i’m not sure if unsweetend matcha is an option here, but if you’re a 0-25% sugar koi enjoyer (and like the taste of matcha let’s be fr) i would try asking for that. decent portion size, matcha took a backseat but tasted quite smooth and floral.

since you’re already here, it’s a great opportunity to pop by maxwell food center to sit down and/or grab a bite with your matcha, or walk walk around chinatown!

final verdict: would buy again 😛

💌 with love, kelly

... Read moreAs a fan of matcha drinks, I recently tried the lavender blue matcha from Market Matcha at Maxwell Food Centre and was pleasantly surprised by its unique flavor profile. The combination of lavender syrup and butterfly blue pea creates a gentle sweetness and a visually stunning blue hue that’s as appealing as its taste. What I really appreciated was how the floral notes stood out without overpowering the matcha itself, making it an excellent choice for those who enjoy a subtly sweetened matcha latte. Unlike some sweeter matcha beverages that mask matcha’s natural bitterness, this one balances the flavors well, offering smoothness every sip. One tip I discovered is asking for a reduced sugar option if you prefer your matcha less sweet; while the menu may not explicitly list this, vendors at spots like Market Matcha are usually accommodating, especially for low-sugar preferences. This makes it ideal for matcha enthusiasts who lean towards 0-25% sugar levels, maintaining the authenticity of matcha’s rich flavors. Beyond the drink, the location is perfect for a casual outing. Situated right at the entrance of Maxwell Food Centre next to Maxwell MRT, it’s a convenient stop for lunch breaks or leisurely afternoons. After getting your lavender blue matcha, I recommend exploring the nearby Chinatown area or grabbing some local bites at Maxwell Food Centre, enhancing the overall experience. If you’re visiting Singapore and want to try a different matcha twist, the lavender blue matcha at Market Matcha offers a refreshing break with no queue hassles and a decent portion size that leaves you satisfied. Definitely worth a revisit for anyone who enjoys creative, flavorful matcha drinks.
