... Read moreOkay, so who else dreads walking into the Security Room in Outlast Trials? Every time I see that area coming up, my heart just starts pounding. I wanted to share some of my recent experiences and a few tricks I've picked up, especially after a particularly chaotic run last night. First off, don't rush it. Seriously, this isn't a sprint. The Security Room is usually packed with Variants, and they're often on patrol routes that can catch you off guard. My first few times, I just ran in, trying to "Complete all Production Steps" as fast as possible, and ended up getting cornered. Always take a moment to observe the layout, spot the enemy patterns, and identify your escape routes. Those vents and lockers are your best friends, even if they feel like a temporary reprieve. Items are crucial here. I always try to stock up on a few essentials before entering. An ANTIDOTE is a non-negotiable for me; you never know when you'll run into gas or other status effects that need clearing ASAP. I've been caught off guard too many times. Also, a trusty BRICK or a BOTTLE can be a lifesaver. You might not always get the perfect throw, but even a distraction can buy you precious seconds to slip away or revive a downed teammate. I remember one time, my friend was about to get caught, and I just hurled a brick blindly – it actually worked! They got stunned, and we made a break for it. Speaking of utility, don't forget your Rig! If you've got a STUN Rig, it's incredibly effective for creating an opening or buying time. A fully charged LARGE BATTERY is what you need to make sure your Rig is ready when you are. And for those really tight spots, a TIME EXTENDER can be absolutely game-changing, giving you an extra few seconds for an objective or a crucial escape. Make sure you use your Rig wisely; don't waste it on a single grunt if you know a bigger threat is around the corner. One of the biggest challenges in the Security Room is managing objectives while staying hidden. Sometimes you have to activate consoles or push buttons, which inevitably draws attention. This is where teamwork, even with randoms, becomes vital. Try to coordinate who distracts and who completes the task. If you're solo, you have to be extra stealthy and quick. I've learned that sometimes it's better to make a quick move, get spotted, then immediately run and hide, rather than trying to perfectly clear the area. The goal is to get in, complete the objective, and get out alive. Keep an eye out for hidden pathways or shortcuts. Sometimes there are broken walls or gaps in shelves that offer a less obvious escape route. The Security Room often feels like a maze, but once you learn its twists and turns, it becomes a little less terrifying. Good luck out there, Reagents! Stay safe and keep those bricks handy!
