Every autumn, I find myself reaching for specific shades that just scream 'cozy season,' and I've finally perfected my go-to fall lip combo that I just have to share with you all. It’s super easy to achieve, but looks incredibly chic and put-together, perfect for anything from apple picking to a pumpkin spice latte run. My secret weapon? It's all about layering. I start with the iconic Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick. Now, don't let the name scare you – it's not actually black! It's this amazing sheer, buildable berry shade that somehow looks good on literally everyone. It enhances your natural lip color with a touch of deep, sophisticated plum. On its own, it’s beautiful, but to really make it pop and add that juicy warmth, I top it with a touch of NYX Butter Gloss. My favorite shade to pair with Black Honey is 'Praline' or 'Tiramisu,' but honestly, almost any nude-ish, warm-toned gloss from their line works wonders. The gloss adds a plump, hydrated look without being sticky, and it softens the deeper tone of Black Honey perfectly. Getting this fall lip combo just right is super simple, but a few quick tips can make all the difference. First, make sure your lips are prepped! A gentle lip scrub can remove any dry flakes, and a good hydrating lip balm applied a few minutes beforehand will create a smooth canvas. I usually blot off any excess balm before applying my lipstick. Next, apply your Clinique Black Honey directly from the tube. You can do one swipe for a sheer wash or build it up with two or three layers for a deeper, more noticeable color. Finally, dab a small amount of NYX Butter Gloss onto the center of your lips and gently spread it outwards with your finger or the applicator. This gives you that perfect, luscious finish without overdoing it. Want your perfect fall lip combo to stay put longer? A simple trick is to lightly blot your first layer of Clinique Black Honey with a tissue, then apply a second layer. You could even line your lips with a neutral or berry-toned lip pencil (maybe even an affordable one from Elf!) before applying Black Honey to create a more defined edge and prevent feathering. While this combo is my absolute favorite, don’t be afraid to experiment! Fall is also a great time for matte browns, deep reds, or even a spiced pumpkin orange. But for a universally flattering, effortlessly chic look, you really can’t go wrong with this Black Honey and NYX Butter Gloss pairing. It’s become a staple in my autumn makeup bag, and I hope it becomes one of yours too!
