Drawing vlog! Learning to draw!

Drawing on Procreate is so useful, especially when they have so many brushes choices!

Even though it takes awhile to finish the drawing, it’s very rewarding to see the results.

... Read moreWhen I first decided to dive into digital art, Procreate felt like a big step. I’d seen so many amazing artists create stunning pieces, and I wondered, 'Is Procreate hard to learn?' My first drawing, which took me about 1 hour and 5 minutes (as you might have seen in the image!), was a mix of excitement and frustration. But honestly, it wasn't as daunting as I expected. If you're asking 'is procreate worth it for beginners,' let me share my experience. Many beginners ask if Procreate is difficult. My take? It has a learning curve, like any new skill, but it’s incredibly intuitive once you get past the initial exploration. The gestures are brilliant – a two-finger tap for undo, three for redo, that alone saved me so much time! I found that focusing on just a few basic tools first, like the sketching brush, an inking brush, and a fill tool, helped a lot. Don't try to master everything at once; take your time learning Procreate for beginners gradually. For anyone just learning to draw with Procreate, here are my top tips to make your journey smoother: Start Simple: Don't aim for a masterpiece on day one. Try sketching simple objects or practicing lines and shapes. This helps you get comfortable with your stylus and the digital canvas. Explore Brushes (But Don't Get Overwhelmed): The sheer number of brushes is amazing, as I mentioned in my main post! But pick a few favorites for sketching, inking, and coloring, and really get to know them. You can always expand later. Watch Tutorials: YouTube is a treasure trove! Search for 'Procreate for beginners' or 'Procreate basic tools.' I spent a good chunk of my 'learning' time watching quick videos, especially for specific effects I wanted to achieve. Use Layers: This was a game-changer for me. Being able to separate elements of my drawing – like sketch on one layer, inks on another, and colors on a third – made corrections and experiments so much easier without ruining my entire piece. Practice Consistently: Even 15-30 minutes a day makes a huge difference. Consistency is key when learning to draw anything new, and digital art is no exception. Now, for the big question: 'Is Procreate worth it for beginners?' Absolutely, in my opinion! It's a one-time purchase, which is fantastic compared to subscription models. For the power, portability (on an iPad), and massive community support you get, it's an incredible value. The ability to create professional-looking art from anywhere is priceless. Even if your first few drawings take a bit of time, like my '1hr & 5 mins' attempt, the rewards are immense. Seeing your ideas come to life digitally is incredibly satisfying and makes the initial learning investment truly worth it. So, if you're on the fence about starting your digital art journey with Procreate, I say go for it! Embrace the learning process, have fun with the brushes, and don't be afraid to make mistakes. You'll be amazed at what you can achieve!
