Taiwan Day 8 🌊🚲🍡

Started the day with a long ride out to Wangyou Valley Trail — blue seas, strong sea breeze, crashing waves, and a whole lot of stairs 🌊💨 Totally worth the climb for those views above the coastline!

Lunch was simple but interesting — DIY instant noodles with toppings + coffee & tea 🍜☕ (not fancy, but it did the job).

Highlight of the day almost slipped away… we nearly missed the Shen’ao Rail Bike timing 😭🚲 but waited it out and managed to snag last-minute tickets — BEST decision. Coastal views, light tunnels, cute projections, and a chill ride along the tracks ✨

Evening took us to Jiufen Old Street just in time for sunset 🌄 — stunning views and even better food: A-Zhu peanut ice cream roll 🥜❄️, handmade mugwort kueh (yam > red bean for me 😆), chewy taro ball dessert 🍠🍡, and a simple local dinner with Shaoxing chicken + mee sua.

Rushed down the mountain to catch the last bus & train, tired but so fulfilled 🥹❤️

So much walking, so many memories — stay tuned for Day 9 (last day already 😭).

... Read moreIf you're planning a visit to the Wangyou Valley Trail, be prepared for a good workout! The trail involves lots of stairs, but I promise the panoramic views of the blue sea and crashing waves make every step worth it. I recommend bringing comfortable shoes and plenty of water. After the trail, I found a simple yet satisfying way to refuel with instant noodles topped DIY-style along with coffee and tea. It’s a great reminder that sometimes the simplest meals can be so comforting when you're on the go. One of the highlights I didn't want to miss was the Shen’ao Rail Bike ride. Despite nearly missing the last tickets, waiting it out turned out to be an amazing decision. The ride offered peaceful coastal views, charming light tunnels, and fun projections that made the whole experience both relaxing and visually exciting. Later, catching the sunset at Jiufen Old Street was magical. This spot is not just about the views; the food here is incredible. I especially loved the peanut ice cream roll from A-Zhu and the handmade mugwort kueh—definitely a must-try for any foodie. The chewy taro ball dessert added that perfect sweet touch to the evening. Traveling off the beaten path in Taiwan is a treasure trove of experiences, from active adventures to cultural and culinary delights. Packing light and staying flexible helped me soak in every moment of this exhausting but fulfilling day. If you love combining outdoor activities with local flavors, Wangyou Valley and the Shen’ao Rail Bike are spots you'll want to add to your itinerary.
