Taiwan Day 9 🍳🍣🍡
One Last Feast Before Reality Hits 🇹🇼
Woke up refreshed and headed straight to the hyped Yong He Soy Milk for breakfast — and wow, what a way to start the last day. Green onion pancake with chicken thigh (my absolute favourite 😭🔥), fluffy steamed bun with pork chop & egg, cold soy milk, and the surprisingly comforting salty soy milk that tasted like savoury porridge 🥣💛. Solid 8/10 experience and zero regrets over-ordering hahaha.
Took a short stroll around Huashan 1914 Creative Park 🌿 before the food tour continued at Addiction Aquatic Development 🐟🍣 — fresh sashimi, generous uni, silky chawanmushi, milky cod fish, beef short ribs, veggies, squid, and a super worth-it bento spread. Everything hit the spot and I’d 100% go back again.
For our final feast, we headed to Raohe Night Market 🏮🍢 — black pepper pork bun (crispy base but slightly overrated IMO 😆), pan-fried dumplings (easy 8/10), and THE STAR of the night: glutinous rice balls on shaved ice 🍡❄️ with sesame & peanut filling in osmanthus soup… absolutely mind-blowing.
Rounded things off with herbal lamb soup 🐑🍲 (strong flavour, tender meat) and my first ever luo si fen — pungent but surprisingly enjoyable 😂.
And just like that… goodbye Taiwan 🥹🇹🇼. 9 days flew by, filled with food, walks, laughter, and memories. I already know I’ll be back again. Until next time ❤️

During my trip to Taiwan, I found that balancing traditional flavors with modern culinary twists made the experience truly memorable. Starting the day at Yong He Soy Milk highlighted the city's mastery in comforting breakfast staples like green onion pancakes paired with succulent chicken thigh—truly a combo that warmed me up early. What stood out was the diversity in the soy milk offerings; the salty soy milk that tasted like savory porridge was a surprise delight that I hadn’t anticipated. It’s a flavor profile that really showcases Taiwanese cuisine’s depth beyond what you might expect. Exploring Huashan 1914 Creative Park gave me a perfect digestif walk, combining cultural art spaces with peaceful greenery, which made the food tour even more enjoyable. The visit to Addiction Aquatic Development was a seafood lover’s dream—fresh uni and silky chawanmushi highlighted how seafood sophistication thrives in Taipei. The final culinary stop at Raohe Night Market is a sensory overload worth every bite. Despite the black pepper pork bun being a little overrated, the pan-fried dumplings and especially the glutinous rice balls in osmanthus soup were exceptional. These sweet glutinous rice balls with their peanut and sesame fillings brought back nostalgic tastes, enhanced by the cool shaved ice, a refreshing contrast. I also sampled herbal lamb soup, which offered a strong, satisfying flavor with tender meat that was comforting after a day filled with adventure. My first experience with luo si fen was eye-opening; the pungent aroma is strong but the flavor is rich and surprisingly enjoyable. Reflecting on the 9 days in Taiwan, the trip was filled with incredible food moments, scenic walks, and genuine local interactions that left me with lasting memories. The dynamic food culture here ensures that every meal is an exploration, a vivid part of the travel experience I’d eagerly dive into again. If you’re planning a food-focused trip to Taiwan, embracing both the familiar and the adventurous dishes will reward you with true culinary treasures.
