ULTIMATE TAOBAO MATCHA GUIDE <$20 🍵😍

Hey everyone!

Like every other basic Singapore gurl… I jumped on the matcha bandwagon 😂 BUT tbf I’ve always liked matcha. I started off drinking the oversweetened, very non-traditional Starbucks matcha latte and that has been my go-to instead of coffee 🤓

I wouldn’t call myself a ~connoisseur~ who buys $80 ceremonial tins from Kyoto, BUT I do drink a fair amount of matcha lattes around SG & Japan… so I’m like… reasonably qualified 🫣

Anyway I got these 3 matchas from Taobao after seeing TikTok/ XHS girlies rave about them and was curious how they compare to my Japan ones.

Here’s the verdict 👇

🍵 MATCHA 1 — my fave (SHOCKINGLY good)

This one honestly surprised me because the price was very affordable… but the taste?? ELITE.

✨ Strong umami - rich & round flavour

✨ Basically no bitterness, super easy to drink

✨ Not very grassy

✨ Makes fine microfoam

Lowkey tastes like a proper café matcha. If you like smooth, comforting matcha, this one is 🙏🏻

🍵 MATCHA 2

✨ Umami, but lighter

✨ Zero bitterness or harshness

✨ Not grassy

✨ Foams easily too!

Surprisingly more expensive than option 1 but I prefer 1 hehe. This one’s less umami but overall still very good 🙌🏼

🍵 MATCHA 3

✨ More grassy + earthy

✨ More bitter & astringent

✨ Needed sweetener / oat milk to mellow it

✨ Foams okay but less smooth

Cheapest of them 3 and I think price speaks for itself lor. But anyway still pretty decent find hehe just wanted to try only 😆

If you want the side-by-side chart or Taobao links, lmk and I’ll drop them in the next post! 💚🍵

... Read moreIf you're new to buying matcha from Taobao, here are some tips I've gathered from my own shopping adventures. Firstly, check the product packaging photos carefully—brands like Offday have distinctive logos and traditional-looking tins that hint at quality. The matcha I tried labeled Offday matched my expectations in terms of smoothness and foam ability. Secondly, when ordering, consider the net weight and price: I found good deals around SGD11 to SGD22 for 40 to 50 grams, which is reasonable if you drink matcha regularly. Don't hesitate to read user reviews or ask sellers about freshness and origin to ensure you're getting genuine tea. Lastly, my personal favorite was the matcha with rich umami and minimal bitterness. It foamed nicely for lattes, making it easy to whip up cafe-style drinks at home. For those sensitive to grassier flavors, avoid the matcha that's more bitter and earthy unless you plan to sweeten it. Overall, Taobao is a fantastic source for affordable matcha powder if you know what to look for. I recommend trying small tins first to find your perfect flavor profile before committing to bigger purchases. Feel free to reach out if you want a side-by-side comparison chart or direct links to my Taobao picks!

So glad my friend introduced me to Offday because it ranks higher than a lot of the affordable matcha brands I've tried. This is my first time trying Chinese matcha. While it doesn't taste like Japanese matcha, you may prefer this flavour profile instead. It has little astringency or bi

cheaper than Taobao: pinduoduo guide ✨
hey gang! 🍋 when i first started using pinduoduo, i realise i can't use it like Taobao or Amazon. Simply because they do not have 'shopping cart' 🛒 Taobao feels easier and more beginner-friendly because it is more straightforward to browse, compare, and add things normally. Pinduo
