in april, my boyfriend and i will make our 5 year anniversary!!!
we both got each other promise rings at different points in our relationship. we met when we were 17 at our college orientation and we were friends for 8 months before dating. weโve been together ever since then and itโs been a dream โ๏ธ๐ฉต
5 months into us dating, for my 18th birthday, my boyfriend surprised me and and got a promise ring! i was so shocked. heโs my first bf (although not my first partner) and my first irl long term relationship, so i never had that experience before. he also wrote me the sweetest letter to go along with it with his promises to me as his girlfriend. it was sooo romantic i couldnโt believe it ๐ฅน he said he knew i was the one from then and it was his first time he felt compelled to buy a promise ring. iโve worn it everyday since then. i absolutely love it, itโs such a sweet reminder of how much he loves me.
in december of 2022 (3 years later) i decided i wanted to get him a promise ring as well! we actually became long distance in august of 2022 when he moved across the country to go to pilot school ๐ฅฒ we have never been apart before so it was definitely difficult at first. i loved my promise ring so much, itโs constant reminder heโs always with me even with the distance between us. i wanted him to have the same thing! we had other matching jewelry before but they wouldnโt last super long so i wanted to get him a permanent piece of jewelry from me. i bought it on etsy and it has amethyst, which is his favorite crystal. he really loves it and wears it everyday now!
i know for some people it might be silly, but we were really young when we started dating and even now, we probably wonโt be able to be engaged for a while as weโre both still finishing school. especially being long distance now, our promise rings mean so much to us! itโs like a physical expression of our love to each other. i canโt wait for the day we get engaged and married ๐ค
