But sometimes, a scent just doesn't hit right, and that was definitely my experience here. I wanted to dive a little deeper into why this particular EOS Shea Better 24H Moisture Body Lotion might be so divisive, because I know a lot of people do love it, and the concept itself sounds amazing, right?
When you see 'Toasted Marshmallow,' you instantly picture cozy campfires, gooey s'mores, and that warm, sweet, slightly smoky aroma. And the product description, which I later found, even lists out these incredible notes: toasted marshmallow, graham cracker, caramelized sugar, heliotrope, smoky birch, and vanilla malt. On paper, it sounds like a dream! Who wouldn't want to smell like that?
However, sometimes the reality of how these complex notes blend can be quite different from our imagination. For me, what I picked up was less of the sweet, comforting marshmallow and more of an artificial, almost plastic-y undertone – what I described as 'chemicals.' It’s possible that one of the less prominent notes, like the smoky birch or even the heliotrope, combined in a way that just didn't agree with my nose. Scent is so incredibly personal, and what smells divine to one person can be utterly repulsive to another. Have you ever had a similar experience with a popular scent?
Beyond the scent, let's talk about the claims. EOS promises 24-hour moisture with 7 nourishing oils + butters and natural shea for soothing protection for dry skin. That's a fantastic promise, especially for those of us battling dry patches. While I couldn't get past the scent long enough to give it a full wear test, in my initial application, the lotion itself felt reasonably hydrating and absorbed fairly quickly, which is a plus. It didn’t feel greasy, which is always a win for a body lotion. If only the fragrance had been a match!
For anyone considering the EOS Toasted Marshmallow lotion, my advice would always be to try it out in person if you can. A quick sniff at the store (like where I saw it priced at $9.98!) can save you from a potential disappointment. If you love sweet, gourmand scents, it might be your new favorite. But if you're sensitive to artificial notes or prefer a more natural-smelling fragrance, you might want to proceed with caution.
If you're still looking for that perfect cozy, sweet scent but this one didn't work, maybe explore other EOS Shea Better scents, or even other brands known for their gourmand offerings. There are so many options out there, from vanilla and caramel to more complex smoky blends. Don't give up on finding your ultimate comfort scent! What are your go-to cozy lotions?
It smells good to me but everyone nose it’s different.
