dorm room prep✨🫶
I made this super cute journal spread to organize my ideas for my dorm room!
I am counting down the days until move in and will be doing prep work everyday until move in day! I AM SOOO EXCITED😁😁
I made a super cute mood page for inspiration on decor! I love all the different shades of blue with the old fashion accents.
I also made a grocery list, shopping list, and packing list of everything I will need! Feel free to save this and use it as your packing list as well!
My to do list includes a few things I still need to get organized and a few chores around the house before I move!

Counting down the days until dorm move-in feels like a mix of excitement and a little bit of stress, right? I totally get it! Beyond just making lists, I've found a few things really help to make that final countdown and actual move-in day go super smoothly. First off, tackling that 'to-do list before I move' is crucial. I've broken mine down into weekly chunks. One week, I focused on gathering all my important documents, another on buying those last-minute essentials. For example, I made sure to grab a good desk organizer – trust me, a cluttered desk in a small dorm is a nightmare! And don't forget the little things like a new toothbrush or a compact first aid kit with some tylenol for those inevitable stress headaches. When it comes to packing, I learned that organization is key. Instead of just throwing things into boxes, I used clear bins for specific categories. For clothes organization, vacuum-seal bags are a game-changer – they save so much space. Also, think about what you actually need for day one vs. what can wait. My bedding (sheets, duvet, mattress top, pillows) always goes into an easily accessible bag so I can make my bed as soon as I arrive. It instantly makes the room feel more like home. Speaking of making it homey, don't underestimate the power of a few personal touches. I'm planning to put up some pictures of friends and family using poster putty – no damage to the walls! A small, cozy rug can also make a huge difference to the overall feel of the room. And for those late-night study sessions, having a good notebook (maybe with some graph paper for diagrams) and a reliable Logitech pen or even fully charged Airpods for focus music can be lifesavers. Now, for actual move-in day, comfort is king. Wear clothes you can easily move in, and make sure you have a water bottle handy. I also pack a small 'first-night' bag with essentials like dry shampoo, a change of clothes, and all my toiletries so I don't have to dig through boxes immediately. And snacks! Oh my goodness, snacks are a must. Keep a stash of your favorites for those moments when the dining hall isn't open or you just need a quick energy boost. Maybe even some ingredients for a quick cookie or donut treat to share with new friends! One final tip: don't forget about utility items. A small tiny trash can and some dish towels are often overlooked but so necessary. If your dorm allows it, a water filter pitcher is fantastic for fresh water without constantly buying bottles. And if you're like me and love a good scent, a few wax melts (if allowed, check fire safety rules!) can make your space feel extra cozy. Every little detail adds up to a comfortable, functional, and welcoming dorm room. I'm so excited to share my experience and hope these tips help you with your own move-in countdown!
