EGS Snow Day

Okay, so you saw my EbonyGoblinSlayer snow day photos, and let me tell you, it was an adventure! When I decided to brave the elements for this shoot, I knew it wouldn't be easy, but the vision of this detailed armor against a snowy backdrop was just too epic to resist. First off, staying warm while looking like a formidable warrior is a serious challenge! Underneath all that dark armor with its striking white fur accents, I had multiple layers of thermal wear. Even with that, the cold started to seep in pretty quickly. My hands, especially, were freezing – trying to manipulate the armor and pose dynamically when your fingers are numb is a skill in itself! I packed hand warmers, but they only do so much when you're out there for an extended period. The costume itself is something I'm really proud of. The EbonyGoblinSlayer armor from Skyrim is iconic, and bringing those intricate details to life was a labor of love. From the crafting of the horned helmet – that single horn resting partially buried in the snow was quite a shot, wasn't it? – to the texture of the fur trim, every piece was designed to capture the essence of the character. The dark, almost obsidian-like finish of the armor really popped against the pristine white snow, which was exactly the contrast I was aiming for. Shooting in the snow also comes with its own unique set of considerations. Protecting the costume from moisture was key. I used weather-resistant coatings where possible, but walking through deep snow meant constant vigilance. We had to be super careful not to get mud or slush on the pristine parts of the armor. And let's not forget the photography aspect – snow acts as a giant natural reflector, which can be amazing for lighting, but also incredibly bright! My photographer worked wonders to capture those dynamic poses and the atmosphere, even as snow was gently falling around us. Despite the freezing temperatures and the constant battle against the cold, it was an incredibly rewarding experience. There's something truly magical about bringing a character from a beloved game like Elder Scrolls into a real-world, dramatic setting. It definitely felt like a true adventurer's quest, and as the original post said, I might not have 'survived the cold' without a hot chocolate waiting for me, but the photos were absolutely worth it!
