Take me back to Jalos!

My recent road trip through Jalisco was truly unforgettable, and I just have to share more about what made Guadalajara and Jalos so special! When we first arrived in Guadalajara, the energy was infectious. I loved strolling through the historic center, feeling the pulse of the city. The bustling city square, particularly Plaza de Armas, was a highlight. We spent ages just people-watching, enjoying the mariachi music, and admiring the stunning architecture. The Metropolitan Cathedral, with its twin golden spires, is absolutely magnificent – truly a landmark that embodies the city's rich history. I remember seeing a beautiful fountain nearby, perfect for a photo op, and just soaking in the atmosphere. The whole area felt so vibrant and alive, a true feast for the senses. Beyond the main square, we explored the Instituto Cultural Cabañas, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and were completely blown away by the Orozco murals. It’s a must-see for anyone who appreciates art and history. The markets, like Mercado Libertad – San Juan de Dios, were also incredible. I picked up some beautiful handcrafted souvenirs and tried some delicious local street food, like tortas ahogadas and birria. Every meal was an adventure! The outdoors in Guadalajara also offers plenty, from relaxing in Parque de las Estrellas to exploring the nearby town of Tlaquepaque, known for its art galleries and charming pedestrian streets. Then, we ventured out to Jalos, or as it's officially known, Jalostotitlán. It’s a smaller, more traditional town, but just as captivating. Getting there felt like stepping back in time, away from the big city bustle. I adored the main plaza, which felt like a more intimate version of Guadalajara's squares. The local church, often a prominent domed building in Mexican towns, was particularly picturesque against the clear blue sky. We learned about the local charro culture and enjoyed the slower pace of life. It’s a place where you can truly connect with authentic Mexican traditions and enjoy the warmth of the local community. The food here was also incredible – simple, hearty, and full of flavor. I remember enjoying some amazing regional dishes that felt truly authentic.
