HOW I MOVED ON FROM MY TOXIC RELATIONSHIP

1. Acceptance: I accepted the fact that my relationship with my narc ex wasn’t going to work out. No matter how much I tried on my end , no matter how many times I forgave him.. I accepted the fact that he wasn’t going to change.

2. Putting myself first: I decided to breakup with him on thanksgiving of last year due to the fact that he was accusing me of cheating . I acknowledged that he was projecting his actions on me and I left girl. I was drained , I was not myself, my whole world revolved around making this man happy. I neglecting myself and my ambitions sadly to make his dreams come true 😪 I was just tried of trying to making him happy when I wasn’t happy myself!

3. Grieving: I’ve known him for 4 years and got so used to him being around and actively involved in my life . Now that he was no longer in it, I felt like I lost a person who I loved so much even though he’s still living… I was grieving a living person who I thought loved me just as much as I loved him. It hurt to feel all the emotions I was feeling. I was angry mostly because why… just why ..?

4. Rebuilding Connections: I started rebuilding my relationship with my friends again. Talking to them made me feel a whole lot better. And supported me in moving on forward. Also I had a super supportive family and they pushed me to get back into school and to get a job. I was a stay at home mom before my breakup but that was all I was.. I joined Stepful and got my certification in becoming a medical assistant and found a full time job as well. I took night classes twice a week for 4 months and did my homework, studied, took notes while my daughter was asleep. I passed with an 105/100 average ! If I can do it , you can do it too sis!

5. Turned to God: I recently started praying, and letting God handle all my problems. Without God I wouldn’t be here . He gives me to strength to keep going no matter what and actively doing things for my betterment. I put my mental health first and cut out all my distractions. I started valuing myself more , my time more. I became a better mother to my daughter because my mental health improved and overall I’m happier.

6. Standing on Business!: I stood on business with my decision of not being with him and yall seen how he reacted on my last post . It hurts him that I finally do value myself enough to be able to move on. He doesn’t deserve me , the pain he made me feel through out the 4 years of us being together on and off… all the confusion , manipulation, gaslighting, projection, down talking… none of it was worth going back at all. He does not deserve me.

I literally had nothing when I left him, I gave him my all. Shit I even carried our child into this world and gave birth to her! AND THAT WASN’T ENOUGH FOR HIM TO CHANGE! So no … I deserve better and God definitely has someone better stored for me because that’s what I deserve and I’m not going to settle anymore. Never again will I ever stoop that low for someone and neglect myself.

And girlies… you shouldn’t either . You are special….don’t let no man treat you like you’re not.

I love yall ❤️ hope this helps someone….

Many individuals face challenges after leaving a narcissistic partner, especially regarding trust and personal identity. Understanding the stages of healing is vital. The first step is acceptance, acknowledging the relationship's toxicity without placing blame on oneself. Grieving the loss of the relationship, even while recognizing it was unhealthy, is common. It's crucial to reconnect with friends and family who provide support, helping to reconstruct not just social networks but also self-worth. Education and career re-engagement can also serve as powerful tools for empowerment and independence. Moreover, incorporating spirituality or personal values, like faith, can provide strength during tough times. Learning to prioritize mental health, amidst the chaos of emotions, is a valuable lesson. Remember that every step, no matter how small, is progress. Engage in self-care practices and surround yourself with positive influences that reinforce your worth. Ultimately, letting go of someone who doesn't value you is a step towards embracing a brighter future filled with new possibilities. Embrace your journey and remind yourself that you deserve better.
