「壁紙剥がした後」って、見た目がそこそこキレイでも実は要注意でした。私は最初、“剥がせた＝次の壁紙を貼れる”と思ってたんですが、貼った瞬間は良くても、昼の光でネジ穴の影が出たり、端っこがじわっと浮いたりしてショック…。 まず確認したいのが「下地までいってる所」と「表面だけ剥がれて下地が残ってる所」の違い。表面だけ剥がれてる場所は比較的セーフなことが多いけど、下地（ボードや紙）まで傷んでる所は、そのまま貼るとボコボコが出やすい印象でした。写真で見ると分かりにくいので、手でなでてザラつき・段差・引っかかりがあるかを優先してチェックしています。 次に、ネジ穴や小さな凹みは「穴埋めパテ」で埋めるのが安心。私はダイソーの屋内用穴埋めパテを使いました。コツは、深い穴ほど乾くと縮むので“ちょい盛り気味”にすること。ヘラがなくても、正直指でもなんとか埋まります（私は途中から指でやりました…）。乾いたら、仕上げに軽くヤスリがけ。ここで削りすぎるとまた凹むので、壁をなでて引っかかりが消える程度で止めるのがちょうどよかったです。 それから一番やらかしやすいのが「端（キワ）」。剥がした後に端が浮いていたり、めくれ癖がついている場所は、壁紙を貼ったあとも浮きが再発しがちでした。私は端を重点的になでて、少しでも段差があるならパテで薄くならすようにしています。ただ、端の下がプラスチックっぽい素材（見切り材や樹脂の部分）だと、パテが乗りにくかったり不要なこともあったので、素材を見て判断しました。 最後に、貼る前の最終チェックは「斜めからライトを当てる」こと。部屋の照明やスマホのライトを斜めに当てると、影で凹凸が浮き出て分かりやすいです。パッと見で分からない微妙な凸凹も、ここで見つけて直すと“未来の自分が喜ぶ”仕上がりになります。 壁紙剥がした後は、貼る作業より下地が8割…って本当にそうだなと実感しました。急がば回れで、穴埋め→乾燥→ヤスリ→ライト確認、の順で一回整えてから貼るのがおすすめです。
