Heeseung has announced his departure from ENHYPEN

As a long-time K-pop fan, I’ve witnessed how powerful a fanbase can be in influencing the careers of idols. Heeseung’s departure from ENHYPEN has been a shock to many, especially since reports suggest it was not his own choice. Seeing footage of him breaking down in the HYBE building is heartbreaking and has fueled a strong response from the fan community. The comparison to Mark from NCT is particularly compelling. Mark left NCT under difficult circumstances but eventually returned after fans actively voiced their support and organized protests. This shows how collective fan action can sometimes impact management decisions within big entertainment companies. Setting up a protest truck and organizing donation campaigns demonstrates how far fans are willing to go to support Heeseung’s freedom to pursue both group and solo activities. It reminds me of how crucial it is for agencies to respect their artists' artistic choices and mental health. ENHYPEN’s identity is strongly tied to Heeseung, and losing him affects not only the group’s dynamic but the emotional connection fans have built. This situation highlights the ongoing challenges within the K-pop industry, where trainee and idol agency relationships can sometimes limit the artist’s freedom. Through this experience, I’ve learned the importance of supporting idols beyond music. Advocating for their well-being and autonomy is an essential part of fandom culture in 2026. It will be interesting to see how BELIFT LAB and HYBE respond to this growing fan movement and whether Heeseung’s future solo activities can coexist with a return to ENHYPEN.
