Day One | New Chapter → Debt-Free Era Begins
I’ve gone back and forth on how to start this for way too long… but here we are.
I totaled up my credit card debt 😅 (spoiler: it’s a lot) and decided I’m tackling it using the Avalanche Method:
👉 Focus on my highest-interest card first
👉 Keep paying minimums on the others
👉 Put all extra money toward that top card
👉 Rinse + repeat until it’s all gone
This way I’ll pay less in interest overall (even if the small wins come slower at first).
👉 Are you Team Avalanche or Team Snowball?

Embarking on a debt-free journey can be overwhelming, but understanding the right strategy is key to success. The Avalanche Method prioritizes paying off high-interest debts first, offering a clear path to minimize total interest paid over time. By focusing on your highest-interest credit card, you not only make a significant dent in your debt but also set the stage for success. This method can save you hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars in interest payments throughout your repayment journey. However, it's essential to keep a balanced approach; while you tackle your highest-interest debt, continue to make minimum payments on your other debts to maintain good standing and avoid penalties. This balance ensures that you are progressing without compromising your financial health. It’s also helpful to stay motivated by tracking your progress. Celebrate small wins along the way as this will keep you inspired to continue your journey. Consider using budgeting tools or apps that can help visualize your debt payoff and overall financial progress. Moreover, engaging with online communities, like forums on social media or dedicated debt-free groups, can provide additional support and strategies from those who are on a similar path. Sharing your story using relevant hashtags such as #DebtFreeJourney, #PersonalFinanceChallenge, and #SmallStepsBigGoals can connect you with a supportive community. The choice between the Avalanche Method and the Snowball Method ultimately comes down to personal preference and financial situation. It's worth exploring both strategies to find what resonates with you and fits your lifestyle. Remember, every small step counts towards achieving financial independence!
