7 Days in Colombia 🇨🇴 | Why I Took a Mental Break ✨

At the end of June, I took a 7-day trip back home to Colombia.

Yes, I went to check on my apartment—but really… I went to check on me.

I’ve been laser-focused on losing weight this year—and while I’ve made incredible progress (physically and mentally), I started feeling off. Like something inside me was tired.

Not the kind of tired that sleep fixes, but soul-tired.

So I booked the trip. I knew deep down that I needed to reset, not just my body, but my mind and spirit.

💭 I took this time to rest, reflect, and ask myself:

• Where am I mentally right now?

• What do I actually want moving forward?

• Are the goals I set still aligned with who I’m becoming?

I slowed all the way down.

I slept in, sat in stillness, chilled in my apartment, spent time with people I love, and let myself just be.

No pressure. No productivity checklist. Just presence.

Honestly, I wasn’t ready to come back to the U.S. But I came back with something even better: Clarity in the form of curiosity.

Sometimes, the answers you’re looking for won’t come from grinding harder—they’ll come from stepping back.

Taking a break doesn’t mean you’re falling off.

It means you care enough about your growth to pause and realign.

Because health is more than just physical—it’s mental, emotional, and spiritual too.

So if you’re chasing big goals, don’t forget:

Breaks are not a luxury. They’re a necessity.

... Read moreColombia has increasingly become a favored destination for mental retreats and self-care journeys. With its stunning landscapes and rich culture, travelers find it an ideal place not just for sightseeing but for introspection and healing. Mental health is gaining recognition as a fundamental aspect of overall wellness, emphasizing that taking time off is essential for renewed energy and creativity. Many experience burnout, a condition where persistent stress leads to physical and emotional exhaustion. Taking mental breaks can counter these effects by helping individuals regain clarity and motivation. Engaging in mindfulness practices while surrounded by the beauty of nature, like the lush coffee plantations or the serene beaches of Colombia, allows many to reconnect with their inner selves. Moreover, prioritizing mental health encourages setting boundaries in our fast-paced lives. Approaching self-care holistically means considering not just physical well-being, but also emotional and spiritual health. Activities like journaling, yoga, or simply enjoying the stillness can lead to significant insights and personal growth. So why not consider your next travel destination as an opportunity for both exploration and self-discovery? Whether it's Colombia or elsewhere, the essence lies in listening to your inner voice, taking breaks as investments in your future self, and recognizing that clarity often blossoms in moments of stillness.
