... Read morePreparing for a new year, especially 2025 with Jesus, often brings up desires for deeper peace and a life truly centered on God. We all long for that inner calm, that sense of purpose that only comes from aligning with something greater than ourselves. I know I do!
The journey to finding lasting peace for your soul isn't always easy, but it starts with those quiet moments with God. Just like an open book, His Word reveals so much to pray about. For me, setting aside time to just be with Him, to reflect on His goodness, helps immensely. Sometimes, it feels like the world is constantly vying for our satisfaction, pulling us in a million directions. But as that powerful quote reminds us, you can't expect God to be the source of your peace if the world is the source of your satisfaction. It’s a constant battle to shift our focus, but leaning into prayer helps us realize that He is near even to the brokenhearted, offering a peace that truly surpasses all understanding, just as Psalm 34:17-18 describes.
Then there are God's promises in the Bible – what a source of hope and strength! When I first started diving deeper into scripture, I realized these aren't just ancient texts; they are living declarations of God's faithful character. A promise definition in the Bible isn't just a casual statement; it's a divine commitment, a covenant. Jeremiah 29:11, for instance, isn't just a feel-good verse; it's a promise that God has plans for us – plans to prosper us, give us hope and a future. Holding onto these promises has been a lifeline for me, especially during uncertain seasons of life, much like Ecclesiastes 3:6 describes – times to gain, and times to lose. Knowing that even in the 'losing' seasons, His promises hold true, brings such comfort.
But what does it really mean to make God the center of my life on a daily basis? It’s more than just a Sunday routine or a quick prayer. It's about inviting Him into every single decision, every conversation, every mundane task. It's about seeing His 'love letters' in the everyday – noticing His hand in nature, a kind word from a stranger, or the perfect timing of an event. For me, it means starting my day by acknowledging His presence, asking for His guidance before diving into my to-do list. It means when a challenge arises, my first instinct isn't to panic, but to bring it to Him. It's a continuous, conscious effort to align my will with His, trusting that He knows best. This isn't about perfection; it's about persistent pursuit, allowing His light to shine through me wherever I go. As we step into 2025, making God the center equips us with the strength, joy, and peace we need to navigate whatever comes our way.
