So, what exactly is Vlogmas? You might have seen the hashtag popping up everywhere during the holiday season, especially around December, and perhaps like me, you've wondered if it's still a big thing. Essentially, Vlogmas is a fun, festive tradition that combines 'vlogging' (video blogging) with 'Christmas.' It challenges content creators to upload a daily video throughout the month of December, leading up to Christmas Day. Sounds exciting, right? It certainly is, but let me tell you, it's also a massive undertaking! When I first decided to jump into Vlogmas this year, I envisioned a month filled with cozy, creative holiday content. But as someone who's now a few days in, like on Day 4, I can honestly say it's been kicking my entire behind! The commitment to produce and edit a new video every single day can be incredibly demanding, especially when you're trying to keep up with all the other holiday preparations, like decorating or finding the perfect gifts. Most people doing Vlogmas start on December 1st and aim to upload a video every day until December 24th or 25th. The content can vary wildly, from daily routines showing how you get ready for work or school during the holidays, to shopping trips for presents or holiday decor (maybe a quick run to HomeGoods for some festive finds!), to baking Christmas cookies, unboxing gifts, or even just sharing your thoughts on the holiday spirit. It’s a way to truly immerse your audience in your festive journey and show them the fun, silly, and sometimes stressful moments that make up the holiday season. For those curious about the meaning behind it, Vlogmas is really about connection. It's a way for creators to engage with their community on a much more personal and consistent level during a special time of year. It builds a sense of anticipation and shared experience, almost like an advent calendar in video form. While it’s incredibly rewarding to look back at the end of the month and see all the content you've created, the daily pressure is real. It requires meticulous planning, quick thinking, and a whole lot of holiday cheer to keep going. If you're considering doing it next year, my advice is to plan, plan, plan, and don't be afraid to embrace the authentic, imperfect moments. After all, that's what makes it genuinely you!
