I have a BA in Psychology, but if you know anything about that, then you’ll know there’s not many high paying jobs for that degree, so I knew from the get go I’d have to go back to school for an MA, but I don’t know for what! I’m currently working as an RBT (Registered Behavior Technician) helping kids with Autism, but it doesn’t pay a ton. Part of me wants to be a BCBA, which is the person who is my supervisor, but IDK.
2. Figure Out a Way to Pay For Graduate School
So, I already applied for graduate school for Clinical Psychology and got in! But… I realized I couldn’t possibly pay for it. I don’t know what I’m going to do! Part of me knows I just need to apply to scholarships, but another part of me knows that I don’t even know if I want to do clinical psych or Applied Behavior Analysis! UGH
3. Start Saving to Buy a Home
I need to apply to graduate school and get my big girl job and start saving to buy a home! I still live with my parents, which is fine for right now because I love my parents! But I don’t want to live at home forever…
All my friends have moved out and moved on and live in other states and started their adult lives… I feel so left behind :(
... Read moreTransitioning into adulthood can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to making crucial decisions about career paths and education. As someone with a BA in Psychology, I’m currently working as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) helping children with Autism. While this role offers invaluable experience, it raises the question of financial security and career fulfillment. Pursuing an MA can open doors, but understanding which specialty, whether Clinical Psychology or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), fits my long-term goals is essential.
Additionally, figuring out how to fund graduate school is a shared concern among many aspiring students. Scholarships can significantly mitigate costs, yet the process of applying can feel daunting and uncertain. I’m actively seeking information on available grants and financial aid options to ease this burden.
Finally, the desire to establish independence is an integral part of adult life. Many of my peers have taken significant steps like buying homes while I still reside with my parents. While I cherish my home life, I aim to balance this comfort with my aspirations for independence. Prioritizing savings is crucial as I prepare for major life transitions, including completing my education and entering the job market.
With these goals in mind, I’m focused on building a clear path that combines my passions, financial stability, and personal growth. Engaging with communities and resources can provide support and insight during this pivotal time.
