It’s such an exciting milestone because it shows that people are really connecting with your content and want to see more. If you're aiming for that 200-follower mark, or even just starting out, I’m excited to share some of the things that really helped me gain traction and build a small, engaged community. It sounds simple, but regularly posting content that you genuinely enjoy making, and that you think your audience will find valuable or entertaining, makes a huge difference. I tried to post at least 3-5 times a week, sometimes more if I had a burst of inspiration. It doesn't have to be perfect every time; just showing up consistently keeps you in people's feeds. Next, finding your niche is super important. What are you passionate about? What kind of content do you love to consume? For me, it was sharing my daily DIY home decorating ideas and budget finds. Once you know your niche, it’s easier to create content that resonates with a specific audience. Don't be afraid to experiment with different formats within your niche – trends, tutorials, relatable moments, storytelling. Engaging with others is another big one. TikTok is a social platform, after all! I made it a point to not just post my own videos, but also to spend time commenting on other creators' videos, especially those in my niche. Leave genuine comments, ask questions, or respond to others. This helps you get noticed by new people and also builds connections within the community. Replying to comments on your own videos is equally important – it shows you appreciate your audience! Using trending sounds and hashtags strategically can also give you a boost. I’d often scroll through the 'For You Page' and the 'Create' page to see what sounds were trending, then try to put my own spin on them. And hashtags – don't just throw them in randomly. Use a mix of broad hashtags (like #fyp, #tiktokgrowth) and more specific ones related to your content (e.g., #homedecor, #diyprojects). This helps TikTok understand who to show your videos to. Finally, don’t get discouraged if a video doesn’t blow up. Not every video will go viral, and that’s totally okay! Focus on learning what works and what doesn't. Look at your analytics (once you have access to creator tools) to see what types of videos get the most views, likes, and shares. Keep refining your approach, and most importantly, have fun with it!
