everything I’m packing for 2.5 weeks in THAILAND 🐘

Hey fellow adventurers! As I get ready for my first big backpacking trip to Thailand, I've been reflecting a lot on what makes a packing list truly functional for hostel life. You hear so many stories, good and bad, and the last thing anyone wants is a packing mishap or a lost item when you're on the move! That's why I'm a huge advocate for packing cubes – they've been a total game-changer for me, even before this trip. When you're constantly unpacking and repacking in shared hostel dorms, or trying to find something quickly without scattering your entire Osprey 50L contents, these little organizers are a godsend. For my trip, I've got 'packing cube 1' dedicated to my main outfits like my dress, linen pants, athletic skirt, shorts, and tops. This keeps my day-to-day wear separate and easy to grab. 'Packing cube 2' holds my swimwear – those three bikinis – along with my jammies, bonnet, and undershorts, perfect for relaxing after a long day of exploring. When you're choosing packing cubes, think about durability and weight. Lightweight, ripstop nylon is usually best. Also, consider different sizes! I use a larger one for clothes and smaller ones for intimates or even tech accessories. Some people love compression cubes, but for my first trip, I'm sticking to standard ones to avoid over-packing. Beyond cubes, keeping everything secure and hygienic in hostels is key. Those blue flex locks aren't just for your main backpack; they can be handy for locker doors too. And speaking of valuables, I always keep my passport, wallet, and a small amount of cash in my Kavu sling bag, which stays close to me. My drone and Sony camera are exciting additions, but they stay super secure. For hygiene, a LifeStraw water bottle is a must for refilling safely, and having travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, soap, and a loofa bag keeps things fresh. Don't forget those microfiber towels – they dry so fast! For shoes, I've got my comfortable Chacos sandals for walking and communal showers, plus some flippies and dressier sandals. Trust me, you'll want dedicated shower shoes! And for tech, I've got my hard drive, power bank, tripod, and GoPro ready to capture all the memories. Keeping a charging block and extra sticky pads is smart! My medical kit is non-negotiable – a few bandaids, antiseptic wipes, and pain relievers can save the day. And for a touch of home, my mini Bible and denim bucket hat with daisy embroidery are coming along. Remember, rolling your clothes instead of folding them saves a surprising amount of space! The beauty of backpacking is truly going with the flow, just like I plan to. But a well-organized backpack means less stress and more time enjoying the journey. Happy travels!
