Working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) offers a deeply rewarding yet challenging career path. From my personal experience and from many stories shared within communities like #blacknurse and #blacknursetiktok, being an LPN requires not only clinical skills but also immense emotional resilience. Many Black nurses face unique challenges related to representation and voice in healthcare settings, but platforms like TikTok have become powerful outlets for them to share their journeys. For example, nurses often talk about managing tough physical demands alongside the emotional labor of patient care. The hashtag #Lpntorn symbolizes the hard work and occasional burnout nurses endure. Community support through social media has been crucial in sharing coping strategies, such as mindfulness techniques, peer discussions, and advocating for better workplace policies. NurseLife is full of meaningful moments—helping patients recover, supporting families, and continuously learning—but also moments that require stamina and self-care. By engaging with these communities online, I’ve found inspiration and practical advice on how to thrive despite obstacles. These shared experiences emphasize the importance of diversity, mutual support, and the vital role LPNs play in the healthcare system today.
