I recently helped a friend put together an amazing Crayola-themed birthday bash, and let me tell you, the kids (and adults!) absolutely loved it. It’s all about embracing color and creativity, which is perfect for little ones. While the custom Crayola chip bags we made were a huge hit as party favors – seriously, everyone wanted to know how I did them! – there are so many other fantastic ways to bring this theme to life. For decorations, think big! We used giant construction paper cutouts of crayons and paintbrushes to hang around the room. A 'coloring station' with fresh Crayola crayons, coloring books, and blank paper is an absolute must. It doubles as an activity and keeps the younger guests entertained while everyone arrives. For a personal touch, I even made a 'Happy Birthday' banner where each letter was designed to look like a different colored crayon. It made the whole space pop! When it comes to activities, a 'color scavenger hunt' where kids find items of specific colors can be super engaging. Or, how about a 'decorate your own cupcake' station using colorful frosting and sprinkles? It ties into the artistic theme perfectly and satisfies their sweet tooth. Another idea we loved was setting up a mini art gallery where kids could display their masterpieces created at the coloring station – it made them feel so proud! And let's talk about food! Everything can be colorful. Rainbow fruit skewers, colorful jelly, and even a vibrant rainbow cake are fantastic additions. For snacks, besides the personalized chip bags, think about using colorful bowls for different colored candies or veggie sticks with a bright dip. The key is to make every aspect of the party a visual treat, just like a box of brand-new Crayola crayons. Now, about those amazing Crayola chip bags! They’re surprisingly easy to make and add such a professional, personalized touch. You'll need some glossy photo paper or brochure paper, a printer, a zig-zag paper cutter (optional, but gives that authentic chip bag look!), and double-sided tape or hot glue. You can find tons of free templates online or design your own with a 'Crayola' inspired logo, perhaps featuring the birthday child's name and age. Just print your design, fill it with a small bag of chips or other treats, then fold and seal the top and bottom edges. It’s a wonderful DIY project that truly makes the party favors memorable and unique. My top tip is to pre-print a bunch and have them ready to assemble a day or two before the party to save time. Trust me, these 'Crayola' themed bags will be the talk of the party!
