This is the beginning of my weight loss journey. I started at 198 and am currently at 192. Baby steps.
The goal is to get to 165 by June and 150 by my birthday in September.
These photos are from the start of my of my journey at the end of January and like most people, it has been a struggle. My diet is all of the place and I even tried weight watchers. 😩 I wish I was one of those girlies that enjoyed working out but I don’t and I hate leaving my house!
I bought weights and have been pushing myself to use them every morning. My biggest challenge is the massive sweet tooth that I have.
Any one at the beginning stages of trying to lose weight? Any tips on staying consistent and finding motivation?
... Read moreHey everyone! I totally resonate with where you're at on your weight loss journey. It's incredibly tough, especially when you're battling those ingrained habits, the elusive motivation, and that sneaky sweet tooth. I’ve been there, taking countless mirror selfies, feeling the ups and downs of each step. It's not just about the numbers; it's about building a sustainable, healthier life, which often feels like a marathon, not a sprint.
When it comes to consistency, which you asked about, I found that breaking down my big goals into tiny, daily wins made all the difference. Instead of focusing on the ultimate target of 150 lbs, I started celebrating smaller milestones. For example, hitting my daily water intake, choosing a healthy snack over a sugary one, or just getting in 15 minutes of movement. These 'baby steps' (as you perfectly put it) build momentum and confidence. Seeing my progress, even if it wasn't always on the scale, helped immensely. I'd compare my latest mirror selfie to older ones, sometimes noticing subtle changes in my favorite outfits that the scale didn't reflect. This visual proof, even a small 'before and after' in my own eyes, was a huge motivator.
That sweet tooth? Oh, it's a universal challenge! What helped me was finding healthier alternatives that still satisfied the craving. Instead of totally cutting out sweets, which often led to a binge, I'd opt for a piece of dark chocolate with berries, a fruit smoothie, or even a small bowl of Greek yogurt with a drizzle of honey. Gradually, my taste buds adjusted, and I found I didn't crave the intense sugar as much. Also, making sure my main meals were balanced with plenty of protein and fiber helped keep me fuller longer, reducing the urge to snack on sweets between meals.
And working out—I completely feel you on not enjoying leaving the house for the gym! For me, finding activities I genuinely enjoyed was key. Since you're already pushing yourself with weights at home, that's fantastic! Maybe try short YouTube workout videos – there are so many options from dance fitness to beginner strength training that you can do in your living room. The goal isn't to become a gym fanatic, but to find ways to move your body that feel good and are sustainable. Remember, every time you pick up those weights, you're not just working muscles; you're building incredible discipline and self-care habits. This is a real transformation, not just a temporary fix.
Your journey from 198 to 192 lbs is significant progress, and setting goals like 165 by June and 150 by September is empowering. Don't underestimate the power of documenting your progress, even through those mirror selfies in different outfits, as a reminder of how far you've come. You're already doing amazing things, and with a little consistency and self-compassion, that two-year body transformation you dream of can absolutely become a reality. Keep going, we're all rooting for you!
Keep going sis ❤️🔥 you’re doing great
