Spooky Date Ideas for Halloween

That aren’t just “watch a scary movie” or “go to a pumpkin patch”…

Stargazing in a cemetery is probably my favorite, it’s a quiet intimate activity but I’m not gonna lie it is pretty creepy to be alone in a cemetery at night!! Make sure the skies are clear and you bring flashlights and bug spray.

Many towns - especially those with popular historic sites - offer nighttime guided tours of allegedly haunted locations. The hearse tour I found would be an amazing date!

downloading a “ghost finder app” can make things like searching thrift stores for haunted items even more fun. The app “spirit talker” was so creepy to use around a vintage clown doll I got from the thrift.

... Read moreOkay, so we've covered some seriously cool, out-of-the-box Halloween date ideas, but what if you're looking for something a bit cozier or perhaps a different kind of thrill? I totally get it! Sometimes, the best spooky dates are the ones you create yourselves, whether it’s a romantic night in or an adventurous evening outdoors. Let's dive a little deeper into making those original ideas even better, and explore some new ones that fit various spooky moods. For cemetery stargazing, I'd suggest packing a cozy blanket, a thermos with hot apple cider or cocoa, and maybe even a small portable speaker for some ambient spooky sounds (just keep it respectful!). Always check local regulations to ensure you're permitted to be there after dark. Safety first, even when you're being spooky! It’s a quiet, intimate activity that feels uniquely Halloween. And those haunted tours? They're a blast! I once found a historic ghost walk that ended with spooky tales in an old pub – highly recommend looking for something similar in your area. The Hearse Ghost Tours shown in the images sound absolutely epic for a truly unique experience. Don't forget to ask about any special Halloween-themed tours they might offer, as many places go all out this time of year. If you're into the ghost app idea, try turning it into a challenge! My partner and I love making a game out of finding the 'creepiest' item in a thrift store and then using an app like 'Spirit Talker' or 'Ghost Radar' to see if it picks up any unusual energy. That creepy vintage doll in the OCR image would be perfect for this! It's a fun, low-pressure way to add a bit of paranormal mystery to your evening without needing to book a formal event. Now, for those of you wondering about a cozy 'living room romantic date night at home,' Halloween style, I've got you covered! Forget just watching a scary movie – elevate it! Build a blanket fort and project a classic horror film inside, or create your own 'haunted house' in a spare room with spooky decorations and jump scares for each other. You could also have a 'Halloween bake-off' making monster-themed treats, or play some horror-themed board games like 'Betrayal at House on the Hill.' My personal favorite is turning off all the lights, lighting some candles, and telling each other ghost stories while roasting 'monster' marshmallows over a mini indoor safe fire pit (or just using a candle flame!). It’s surprisingly intimate and scary! And what about a 'bonfire date idea' for Halloween? This is fantastic for a crisp autumn night! Gather around a fire pit, tell scary stories, and roast some spooky snacks. You can even project a horror movie onto a white sheet hung between trees if you have a projector. Decorate the area around the bonfire with string lights and carved pumpkins to create a truly magical yet eerie atmosphere. It’s perfect for getting close and sharing some genuine scares under the stars. Oh, and for something truly unexpected, I saw a 'Halloween flash tattoo event' mentioned in the OCR! Many local tattoo shops host these around Halloween, offering small, themed designs at a special price. It’s a unique way to get a permanent spooky souvenir together and make a memorable date out of it. Just make sure to research reputable shops! No matter what you choose, the key is to make it memorable and tailored to your shared interests. Halloween is the perfect excuse to get creative and step outside the usual date night routine. Happy spooky dating!
