This is one of the many cheese debates that drives me up the wall right up there with pairing champagne with Langres.

As someone who used to put my own sweat and tears into making soft-ripened/bloomy-rind cheese, I 100% understand the sentiment behind wanting everyone to eat the rind on those cheeses.

I agree that the rind can make them special, but seeing consumers comment on my videos asking if they’re an awful person for not eating the rind breaks my heart, because someone said something that made them feel that way.

You should never feel bad about yourself when eating cheese. So, no, you are not an awful person for not wanting to eat the rind on Brie!

... Read moreHaving spent considerable time both making and tasting soft-ripened cheeses like Brie, I can personally attest to the complex feelings rund cheese rinds often evoke among cheese lovers. The rind is, without doubt, an integral part of the cheese’s identity and character—crafted with care and pride by cheesemakers. Yet not everyone enjoys its distinctive texture or flavor, and that’s perfectly fine. From my experience, the pressure to eat the rind can sometimes detract from the pure joy of savoring cheese. I recall conversations with friends and cheese enthusiasts where some felt anxious about skipping the rind because they worried it might be disrespectful or a waste of the cheesemaker’s hard work. However, cheese should be a source of pleasure, not stress or guilt. In fact, I encourage anyone trying a new cheese for the first time to taste the rind at least once to understand its role in the flavor profile. But beyond that, your palate is the ultimate guide—if you prefer the creamy paste inside, enjoy it fully without hesitation. Another thing to keep in mind is personal preference varies widely. Some may love the unique earthy or even slightly bitter notes of the bloomy rind, while others may find them overpowering. Both experiences are valid. Supporting local cheesemakers and appreciating their craft doesn’t require uniformity in how we consume their products; what matters most is that we enjoy our food and feel comfortable in how we eat it. Moreover, indulging in the cheese paste alone can sometimes lead to discovering subtle nuances in creaminess and buttery flavors that might be overshadowed by the rind’s stronger taste. This is particularly true for delicate varieties of Brie and other soft cheeses. In the end, the best advice I can offer is to listen to your own taste buds, respect the cheesemakers’ artistry, but never compromise your enjoyment. Food is deeply personal, and cheese is no exception. Celebrate what you love about it, rind or no rind, and don’t let anyone make you feel otherwise.

The adds extra flavor to the cheese paste. I love it and would not have it any other way.

The One And Only Perfume You Need
Today’s scent is Dolce and Gabbana The Only One. I’m horrible at describing scents. I just know I like to smell good ok. It’s a masculine scent but not too much it has hints of coffee and rose so it’s still feminine Does that make sense? Probably not I’m confused too 😂😂 it just smells good #hellole
