Butter Garlic Egg Boil
Ingredients
* 12 eggs
* 1 medium to large onion, diced
* â…“ cup chopped garlic
* 2 sticks butter
* 1½ tablespoons lemon pepper seasoning
* 1½ tablespoons Cajun seasoning
* 1½ tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
* 1½ tablespoons garlic seasoning (or garlic powder)
* 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)
* 1 teaspoon brown sugar
* Juice of 1 lemon
Instructions
1. Hard-boil 12 eggs. Once they’re cool enough to handle, peel them and slice each egg in half. Set aside.
2. In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion until it reaches your preferred level of softness.
3. Add the chopped garlic and 2 sticks of butter. Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the garlic is fragrant and the butter is infused.
4. Stir in the lemon pepper, Cajun seasoning, Old Bay, garlic seasoning, and cayenne pepper (if using). If you don’t like spicy food, simply leave out the cayenne.
5. Let the seasonings cook for about 5 minutes, stirring often.
6. Add the brown sugar and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
7. Squeeze in the juice of one fresh lemon and stir everything together.
8. Pour the butter sauce over the halved eggs, or gently toss the eggs in the sauce until they’re well coated. Serve warm and enjoy!
If you enjoy cooking with bold flavors, this Butter Garlic Egg Boil is a fantastic recipe to try at home. The combination of Cajun seasoning, Old Bay, and lemon pepper brings a zesty and slightly spicy profile that pairs beautifully with the richness of butter and garlic. When I made this dish, I found that sautéing the onions just until translucent without browning gave the butter sauce a subtle sweetness that balanced the spices well. One tip for prepping the eggs is to boil them just right so the yolks remain creamy but firm enough to hold their shape when halved. Cooling the eggs in ice water immediately after boiling makes peeling easier and helps prevent a green ring around the yolks. For those who like a little extra heat, adding cayenne pepper really kicks the sauce up, but you can omit it if you prefer mild flavors. The brown sugar melts into the butter mixture, adding a pleasant touch of sweetness that contrasts nicely with the lemon juice, which brightens the dish. This recipe is versatile — you can serve it warm as an appetizer or a protein-rich snack at gatherings. I also like to pair it with some fresh green salad or crusty bread to soak up any extra sauce. It's a great make-ahead dish too; just warm the sauce and toss the eggs before serving. Overall, this Butter Garlic Egg Boil is a comforting yet sophisticated dish that’s easy to prepare and sure to impress!
