$21 for dinner for just pies??? 🤔
okayyyy lemme explain!!
I went to a local fall festival that featured food vendors who would frequent farmers market so in a way, this was a farmers market of some sort. Anywayyyy i was there very early and hadn’t really had much to eat and so stopped by this pie vendor — never heard of them before but decided to give it a try. I got the pork belly one and wowwwwww they were delicious. That’s how I ended up buying all three so I could eat it for dinner and I was full!! Just one alone was so filling and satisfying and absolutely delicious it definitely was worth it getting all three!!!
Would you eat only pies for dinner? And also do you like your pies savory or sweet? Let’s talk ⬇️

That $21 savory pie dinner from the farmers market truly opened my eyes! Before that day, I usually thought of pies as a sweet dessert, but stumbling upon STAPLETON'S stall changed everything. It wasn't just about the convenience; it was about the incredible flavors and the satisfaction of a wholesome, handcrafted meal. If you're like me and often wonder 'what's for dinner?', especially when you're short on time but craving something comforting and delicious, then these savory pies are a game-changer. I picked up Pork belly, Chicken, and Potatoes pies, and each one was a revelation. The crust was flaky, the fillings were rich and perfectly seasoned. It got me thinking: why aren't savory pies a more regular dinner option for more people? They're portable, often packed with protein and vegetables, and incredibly versatile. The joy of unwrapping a warm pie, with its enticing aroma, after a long day is simply unmatched by many other quick meal options. It feels like a special treat, even on a Tuesday night. When you’re browsing a farmers market, keep an eye out for vendors specializing in savory pastries. Here are a few tips I've learned from my own adventures: Look for variety: Don't just stick to the familiar. My vendor, for example, had intriguing options like Chicken Curry, Gratin Dauphinois, Char Siu, and Duck & Shiitake on their chalkboard menu. These unique flavors are often what make market finds so special and worth exploring. Ask about ingredients: A good vendor will be proud to tell you where their ingredients come from. Fresh, local ingredients usually mean a better-tasting pie. Plus, it's a great way to connect with the people who make your food! Check the crust: A golden-brown, flaky crust is a sign of a well-made savory pie. Avoid anything that looks overly pale or greasy; you want that perfect balance of crispness and tenderness. Consider the size: Some pies are individual portions, perfect for a quick dinner, while others might be larger for sharing. Knowing this helps you plan your meal or even stock up for later, as many savory pies freeze surprisingly well. Beyond the specific pies I tried, savory pies offer a world of culinary exploration. Imagine a hearty steak and mushroom pie, a creamy chicken and leek, or even a vibrant vegetarian option packed with roasted root vegetables, spinach, and a generous amount of cheese. They pair wonderfully with a simple side salad for a balanced meal, or a tangy chutney to complement the rich, savory flavors. And for drinks, a glass of crisp cider, a robust red wine, or even a craft beer can truly elevate the experience, turning a simple dinner into a mini-culinary event. Making savory pies a part of your dinner rotation can also be incredibly practical. They often reheat beautifully in an oven or air fryer, maintaining their crust's crispness, making them ideal for meal prepping or quick weeknight dinners when you don't have much time to cook. Plus, supporting local bakers at a farmers market means you're getting high-quality, often artisanal products that you won't find in a typical grocery store. It's a win-win: a delicious, convenient meal for you, and direct support for small businesses that pour their passion into their craft. So, next time you're at a market, or even just looking for a dinner idea that's a bit out of the ordinary, give savory pies a try. You might just find your new favorite go-to meal, just like I did with those delicious Pork belly, Chicken, and Potatoes pies! It's an experience I highly recommend.
