Fall/Winter Reading Journey Commences
I have all these books and so starts my fall book reading journey. Let’s see how many I can get through by Spring.
The leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and for me, that means it's time to fully embrace my fall/winter reading journey! There's nothing quite like curling up with a good book when the weather turns cold. I've been busy creating my ultimate cozy book aesthetic, and I can't wait to share my setup and current reads with you all. For me, 'book aesthetic' isn't just about pretty covers or Instagrammable shots; it's about the entire immersive experience. Think soft, oversized blankets, a steaming mug of tea or coffee, the gentle glow of fairy lights, and a quiet corner that feels like my own personal sanctuary. It's about creating a mood that perfectly matches the stories I'm diving into, enhancing every page turn. Right now, I'm leaning heavily into darker, more atmospheric vibes for some of my picks, but also craving some comforting classics. My stack this season is wonderfully diverse, reflecting all the moods autumn and winter bring. I'm especially excited to re-read some Stephen King classics like IT – there’s just something about his epic storytelling and unique blend of horror and human drama that truly captures the chill of a long winter night. And speaking of suspense, I've also got Joe Hill's 20th Century Ghosts on my list; his short stories are perfect for quick, potent scares that linger long after you've finished. On a completely different note, revisiting the magical world of Harry Potter is always a must for that comforting, nostalgic feeling, a perfect antidote to the darker reads. I've also been eyeing some intriguing urban fantasy from Kim Harrison, looking for something to pull me into a new series. Each of these books creates a unique world, and I find that curating my surroundings helps me get lost in them even more completely. This blend of genres and moods really defines my current reading aesthetic. For those intense, edge-of-your-seat thrillers – you know, the kind that might have you searching for a 'five survive book aesthetic' because you want that perfect suspenseful vibe – I love setting the scene with a darker mug, maybe a scented candle with notes of pine or smoke, and perhaps a curated playlist to match the tension. It makes the experience so much more immersive, especially when you're delving into something as gripping as a Stephen King novel or a chilling collection like 20th Century Ghosts. And for the lighter, more whimsical reads, I'll switch to brighter lighting and a cheerful mug. How do you create your ultimate reading experience? Do you have specific rituals or aesthetics you aim for? I love trying new things, like pairing a themed snack or drink to match my current read – maybe a butterbeer for Harry Potter, or something strong and black for a King novel. Building this personal reading journey makes every book feel like a unique adventure, and I find myself looking forward to my reading time even more. I'm curious, what books are defining YOUR fall/winter aesthetic this year?
