Something in March

I went to /The Botanic Garden of Smith College this weekend and it was the perfect mood boost in the cold and gray New England weather. I went on a Saturday afternoon, it was busy but it felt good to be with other people after hibernating all winter. I couldn't tell you what most if these flowers are but they were so beautiful! 🌺

Side note: drinks with a lid are allowed, restrooms are available and no admission but a $5 donation is recommended.

... Read moreIf you're looking to brighten your early spring weekends, visiting The Botanic Garden of Smith College is an excellent choice. Even in chilly and overcast New England weather, spending time among vibrant flowers and natural greenery can significantly uplift your mood. During my visit on a busy Saturday afternoon, I found joy in simply being outdoors, surrounded by nature and fellow visitors who were equally eager to soak up the fresh air after a long winter indoors. Though I wasn't able to name many of the blooms, each flower added to the enchanting atmosphere, demonstrating how nature’s beauty can be appreciated without expert knowledge. This garden’s charm lies in its accessibility and tranquil environment — no admission fee means it’s easy to drop by whenever you need to rejuvenate. Practical tips for visitors: the garden allows drinks with lids, which makes it easy to stay hydrated as you wander the paths. There are restrooms on-site, a convenience that encourages longer visits without worry. Also, while admission is free, they recommend a $5 donation to support maintenance, which I gladly gave knowing the value the garden provides. For those in Western Massachusetts or nearby New England areas, this garden offers a lovely outdoor escape, especially if you’re in Northampton. It's a perfect activity to add to your Things To Do list, ideal for solo visits or casual outings with friends and family. Embracing seasonal changes by connecting with natural spaces can refresh your perspective and energy in meaningful ways.
