What I read in October

8 books

2 were audiobooks

2 were physical books

4 were mixed (3 physical/audio, 1 physical/kindle)

I finished Red Mist, The Bone Bed, and Dust: all by Patricia Cornwell. These are books 19-21 in a 28 (so far) book series. They're okay, but if I weren't so deep in the series, I wouldn't read them. They just aren't as good as the first 10 or so in the series.. However, at this point, I'm invested in the characters and committed to finishing. I wish the author would read some of the reviews for these books, I am not alone in my opinions...

When She Was Me by Marlee Bush. I grabbed this one because it was set in a cabin at a campground, which was fitting, considering I was going on a family trip to a cabin for a long weekend. It was decent, a few spooky parts with twists, but nothing mind-blowing. It was NOT predictable, so that's a plus.

An Inquiry into Love and Death by Simone St. James. I've read several from this author, and they're all good. She has paranormal mystery down to an art. But her books are found in the horror section, which is strange to me?? No gore, not too much romance, enough spooks to give you goosebumps 🤌 chef's kiss

The Wren in the Holly Library by K.A. Linde. So good. I just loved this one and can't wait for the 2nd book. I didn't know this wasn't a stand alone until after reading, but I wanted more by the end, so that will be a must read for me. Immaculate vibes. Will be one of my favorites for the year.

The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand. This was an audiobook that my husband and I listened to together when in the car. It was good enough that I struggled to NOT listen to it when he wasn't around. We both enjoyed it, which says something because he's not crazy about audiobooks. Didn't expect the ending. I will watch the show soon, but I doubt it will live up to the book.

Leather and Lark by Brynne Weaver. This was an Audiobook. Honestly, I was so shocked by the 1st book, Im surprised that I had any desire to listen to this one, but I think I preferred the 1st book. This one was just a basic romance.. they don't like each other but are keeping secrets from each other, blah blah. Did I love it? No. Will I still read the next one? Yes. I'm not a quitter.

Whose ready for November?? I'm already several books in, look for the update!!

... Read moreIn October, I dove into a variety of books, blending audiobooks with physical reads for a diverse experience. Among the highlights was 'Red Mist' by Patricia Cornwell, marking my commitment to a long-running series that has seen better days. If you enjoy mystery and suspense, consider reading 'When She Was Me' by Marlee Bush, which provides a unique cabin setting with unexpected twists. The combination of paranormal elements and mystery in Simone St. James's 'An Inquiry into Love and Death' showcases her knack for creating spooky atmospheres that will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you're on the hunt for summer vibes, 'The Wren in the Holly Library' by K.A. Linde is a gem worth considering—especially since its sequel is highly anticipated. Elin Hilderbrand's 'The Perfect Couple' stands out as an engaging audiobook that had me enthralled during car rides, while 'Leather and Lark' by Brynne Weaver offers a classic romance tale sprinkled with secrets. Each of these reads adds a unique flavor to my literary journey, and I can't wait to share my next month's selections! Explore the world of books with me and get inspired to add these titles to your reading list for unforgettable escapism this fall.
