What I made for Christmas..
Sewing story time..
I made a quilt for my daughter, she's 4. Pigs, pink boots/disco balls, and more pink. Made from 7 fat quarters, cotton batting, and a plain backing piece. I machine sewed the top and the quilting and then hand sewed the binding. Surprisingly, the binding didn't take too long and was well worth the detailed work. Her quilt will coordinate with my 3 year old sons quilt from an earlier post, which he will also receive at Christmas.
I made 8 adjustable book covers for my coworkers. I had to adapt a "pattern" from a TikTok video I watched. I adjusted it to fit hardback books, with a built in bookmark, with interfacing. I also added a cute little tag to each bookcover. They appeared to be a well appreciated gift, since my coworkers and I are now all in a book club together. This project was a challenge because it took some trial and error, and was my first time using interfacing. Only took 3 prototypes to figure out 😉
On a whim, I made hanging kitchen towels. These are the ones that hang over your oven or dishwasher handle. 1 towel and 1 fatquarter makes 2 hanging towels. They were inexpensive and fairly easy to make, taking about 2 hours to make 12 hanging towels.
My next projects will be larger... quilts! woohoo!
