Having tried several glutathione skincare products myself, I can say this antioxidant is both fascinating and tricky to incorporate into a routine. Glutathione’s instability often leads to products with unusual smells, as highlighted in some highly concentrated formulas like the Numbuzin NO.5+ ampoule. This “aromatic” scent can be off-putting, but it signals the freshness and potency of the glutathione content. I personally enjoyed the Abib Glutathiosome Dark Spot Serum because its encapsulated glutathione felt gentler on my skin and didn’t carry an overpowering odor. The moisture from the water-based formula was nice, and it seemed to complement other brightening actives well. In contrast, the Tosowoong 2% glutathione ampoule offered a more straightforward antioxidant boost with some fragrance to mask the ingredient’s natural scent, making it easier to use daily. Vitamin C combos like Paula’s Choice 25% Vitamin C + Glutathione clinical serum and the Numbuzin concentrated vitamin C serums provide double-duty benefits—combating sun damage while brightening the skin. I noticed a subtle glow and gradual fading of mild hyperpigmentation after consistent use over several weeks. However, glutathione skincare isn’t for everyone. The ingredient’s volatile nature means some products have very limited shelf lives or require careful storage. The stronger scents may also not suit sensitive noses. Based on my experience, if you want to explore glutathione, start with a lower concentration or a blended formula alongside proven brighteners like vitamin C and niacinamide to reduce irritation risk. In essence, incorporating glutathione into your skincare can be rewarding if you manage expectations about scent and texture. It’s important to choose products with transparent concentrations, consider your skin type, and prepare for an initial adjustment period. Sharing your experience helps others navigate this emerging trend, so feel free to weigh in on what worked—or didn’t—for you!
