Jobs expect you to have 150 years experience

... Read moreIt's frustrating how many job ads today seem to expect candidates to have almost impossible qualifications, like 150 years of experience or the ability to lift 500 pounds, all while keeping salary details vague or mysterious. From my own job hunting experience, I've noticed this trend often discourages talented people from applying, especially when the requirements feel exaggerated or unattainable. It sometimes feels like employers set these extreme bars to weed out applicants quickly without considering the real potential of candidates. In reality, many roles require a balanced mix of skills and experience, but expecting such extremes can be damaging to job seekers’ confidence and career growth. It’s also a lost opportunity for companies to find diverse talent and fresh perspectives. I found that focusing on companies with transparent job descriptions and realistic expectations made a big difference in my job search and professional development. For those facing these challenges, I recommend tailoring your application to emphasize relevant achievements rather than trying to meet every extreme requirement. Networking and insider referrals helped me bypass some of these unreasonable filters. Remember, too, that sometimes it's okay to respectfully question job postings or seek clarification about what's genuinely needed versus listed as a formality or a wish list. This approach helped me avoid wasting time on jobs with ambiguous salary details and unrealistic demands.
