SAVE to attract better opportunities through social media

Most of my clients come through inbound and honestly, I’m really grateful for the people who have trusted me, referred me and found me through social media.

Over time, I’ve learnt that attracting the right opportunities isn’t always about reaching more people.

Here are 6 things I’ve learnt:

🦋 Authenticity helps you connect with the right audience.

🦋 Your expertise builds trust, which converts into leads.

🦋 Your existing network is your biggest advocate.

🦋 Every platform has a different job. So set different expectations for each one.

🦋 Build your personal brand before you network.

🦋 Focus on qualified leads, not just more leads.

... Read moreFrom my own experience, I can truly attest to the power of authenticity in growing opportunities on social media. Early on, I tried to present a flawless image, fearing showing my struggles would turn people away. But it was when I started to share real moments—the messiness, the challenges, and how I overcame them—that I resonated more deeply with potential clients. This human approach helped build trust far beyond superficial impressions. One insight that shifted my strategy was focusing on my expertise rather than just general awareness content. Posting educational videos or sharing original ideas not only boosted my confidence but also attracted leads who valued my knowledge. Even a small organic post with limited views brought serious inquiries because it demonstrated what I could offer. Expertise truly establishes authority and trust, which are critical to converting followers into clients. I also learned that my existing network was an incredible asset. Instead of chasing every new follower, nurturing relationships with friends, past clients, and supporters yielded more fruitful outcomes. These people became my biggest advocates, referring others and sustaining my growth over time. Understanding that each social media platform serves a unique purpose was another game changer. For instance, LinkedIn became ideal for partnerships and speaking opportunities, while Instagram was better suited for building community and collaborations. Tailoring content and expectations for each platform helped me be more strategic and effective. Before jumping into networking, I invested time in clarifying my personal brand. This clarity transformed awkward encounters into meaningful conversations, as I could confidently articulate who I was and what I offered. In today's digital age, your personal brand precedes face-to-face meetings, making it essential to develop it deliberately. Lastly, I shifted my focus from accumulating leads to attracting qualified leads. Saying no to unsuitable opportunities allowed me to align with clients who appreciated my work and improved conversion rates dramatically. Quality over quantity in lead generation has not only boosted my income but also enhanced my satisfaction. Overall, approaching social media with genuine authenticity, sharing expertise, engaging existing advocates, respecting platform differences, building a strong personal brand, and prioritizing qualified leads has been instrumental to my success. These lessons can empower others to attract better and more meaningful opportunities through social media.
