Emily in Paris Made Me Understand What It Means to Be Human

At first, I watched Emily in Paris because of the fashion, the city, and the beautiful atmosphere.

But the more I watched, the more I felt like I could see a part of myself in Emily.

She is a woman who carries work everywhere she goes.

A walk through the city, a cup of coffee, a conversation, or even a small moment can become an idea.

I understand that feeling.

For me, almost everything can become a story, a photograph, an article, or a piece of inspiration.

But Emily and I are also very different.

She is energetic, outgoing, and comfortable being seen.

I am quieter.

I enjoy observing people, collecting small details, and finding meaning in ordinary moments.

Maybe I am not exactly like Emily.

Maybe I am more like Paris itself.

Beautiful, romantic, charming—but also complicated, imperfect, and slightly dark beneath the surface.

That may be why I enjoy this series so much.

It does not tell a perfect love story.

It shows love, desire, attraction, mistakes, jealousy, intimacy, and the confusing choices people make.

Many people watch the series and ask:

Who is right? Who is wrong?

But the series made me think about a different question.

Are love and sex always the same thing?

Sometimes they exist together.

Sometimes they do not.

Human beings have instincts.

We love, desire, become jealous, get angry, crave connection, kiss, and seek intimacy.

These things are part of being human.

What makes us different is not that we have no instincts.

It is that we have awareness, values, empathy, and the ability to choose what we do with them.

We do not have to deny the wildness inside us.

But we are responsible for our actions and for how those actions affect other people.

Perhaps growing up is not about becoming perfect.

It is about accepting that we all carry both light and darkness within ourselves.

Reason and emotion.

Kindness and desire.

Strength and vulnerability.

And when we understand those parts of ourselves, we may become slower to judge other people.

Because in the end, whether we live in Paris, Chicago, Bangkok, or anywhere else in the world—

we are all simply human, trying to understand ourselves one day at a time.
