📚 The Birth of Foyles, founded 1903 by brothers William and Gilbert Foyle, both failed the civil service exams, and took a large number of old textbooks to announce their sale in The Times. The response was so better than expected that it was decided to open a bookstore in London. The first one was located in Charing Cross Road.
