Trust me, it’s seriously become my go-to virtual hang-out, and it’s much easier than you might think to set up. I'm going to share my personal step-by-step guide so you can host your own epic game night! What You'll Need Before We Start: A Jackbox Party Pack: You'll need to own one (or more!) of the Jackbox Party Packs. I usually get mine on Steam for my PC, but they're available on various platforms. Discord: Obviously! Make sure everyone has a Discord account and is in the same voice channel. A Second Device (for players): Each player will need a smartphone, tablet, or web browser to join the game at Jackbox.tv. My Easy Setup Guide for Jackbox on Discord: Step 1: Get Your Game Ready! First, the host (that's usually me!) launches the Jackbox Party Pack from their computer. I like to make sure it's running smoothly before I even jump into Discord. Once the game is open, you’ll see the main menu, ready to pick a party game. Step 2: Hop into Discord! Next, gather your friends in a Discord voice channel. This is where all the laughter and banter will happen! Step 3: Share Your Screen (Crucial Step!) This is the magic part! As the host, look for the 'Screen' button (it often looks like a monitor icon) next to your username in the voice channel, or find the 'Go Live' button with a monitor icon. Click it, and a pop-up will appear. Select the specific window where your Jackbox game is running. Crucially, make sure the 'Share Audio' option is checked! This ensures all your friends can hear the game's hilarious prompts, sound effects, and music. Once you click 'Go Live', your friends will see your Jackbox game screen broadcast directly in Discord. On my screen, I’ll often see my friends’ player avatars in colored quadrants once they join, which is super helpful to see who's playing! Step 4: Friends Join at Jackbox.tv! Now, for your friends – they simply open a web browser on their phone, tablet, or another computer and go to Jackbox.tv. On your shared Discord screen, the Jackbox game will display a unique four-letter room code. Your friends will enter this code into Jackbox.tv, type in their chosen name, and they're in! You'll see their names pop up on your game screen. My Personal Tips for a Seamless Game Night: Stable Internet: A good internet connection for the host is key to avoid lag and ensure a smooth experience for everyone. Host Responsibilities: The host usually controls starting games, muting players (if needed!), and generally keeping the flow going. Explore Packs: Don't just stick to one game! We love moving between different Party Packs. Quiplash is a classic for quick wit, Drawful is amazing for artists (and non-artists!), and games like Trivia Murder Party bring a fun, spooky vibe. Seeing the credits roll after a particularly epic game, with options like 'Play a Sequel' or 'Reboot', always makes us eager for the next round! Discord Settings: Sometimes, adjusting individual Discord audio settings can help if someone is too loud or too quiet. Communication: Keep the communication flowing! The fun of Jackbox is the interaction, whether it's debating answers or laughing at absurd drawings. Playing Jackbox on Discord has truly transformed how I play with friends.
