Emotionally Bad Day

with everything going on and not having my dad and mom here for the holidays along with my pain not going away and them not here to say everything will be ok or having them call and text checking on me is. making my emotions go crazy. I've teared up many times today. I feel like I'm losing it more often. it's harder to keep it down. i love and miss you and mom so much. I feel like I can't do this. I am, but it's so hard without y'all.

... Read moreExperiencing emotional distress during the holidays, especially when grieving the loss of loved ones like a father and mother, is an understandably difficult journey. Many people find feelings of loneliness and sadness intensify during these times, compounded by physical pain or ongoing health struggles. It’s important to acknowledge that these emotions are normal and valid. Feeling like you’re “losing it” or having trouble controlling tears can be your mind’s way of processing deep grief and fatigue. While every person’s experience is unique, common strategies to help cope can include reaching out to empathetic friends or family for support, even if it’s just through a phone call or message. Sharing your feelings openly helps to alleviate the burden. Self-care during such emotional challenges should not be underestimated—try to pace your activities, rest when needed, and engage in gentle activities that bring moments of peace, such as meditation, journaling, or light walks if possible. Remember, it’s okay to not be okay all the time. If your feelings of sadness and pain persist and start to interfere severely with your daily life, seeking help from a professional counselor or support group can be very beneficial. They can provide a safe space to express your grief and teach coping techniques specially tailored to your needs. Above all, be gentle with yourself. Loving and missing your parents is a profound experience that takes time to heal. Allow yourself moments of vulnerability and recognize that surviving these hard days shows your incredible strength. You are not alone, and support is available.
