... Read moreMaking monkey bread at home can be a real crowd-pleaser, and adding raisins and walnuts gives this classic treat an extra layer of flavor and texture that I absolutely love. One of my favorite parts about this recipe is how easy it is to prepare using canned flaky biscuits, which means you don’t need to start from scratch with dough, saving tons of time. When rolling the biscuit quarters into balls, make sure each piece is well-coated with the cinnamon sugar mix. This not only enhances the sweetness but also helps create that irresistibly crunchy exterior after baking. Sprinkling the raisins and walnuts evenly throughout ensures every bite delivers a delicious combination of chewy fruit and nutty crunch. I usually butter my Dutch oven first or use a non-stick spray to help release the bread easily after baking. Covering the bread during the initial baking time keeps it soft and allows it to rise nicely. Then, uncovering it for the last 15 minutes helps build a golden-brown crust, which is crucial for the perfect monkey bread texture. For the icing, stirring powdered sugar with melted butter, vanilla, and milk creates a smooth glaze that adds a creamy sweetness complementary to the cinnamon and brown sugar. Drizzling the icing while the bread is slightly warm helps it soak in just enough without making the bread soggy. If you want to switch things up, try adding chopped apples or dried cranberries in place of raisins, or substitute pecans for walnuts to suit your taste. This recipe is very adaptable and perfect for experimenting with your favorite flavors. Overall, this monkey bread with raisins and walnuts is a comforting, easy-to-make delight that’s perfect for sharing with friends and family during holidays or weekend brunches. The combination of sweet, buttery, and nutty elements makes it truly irresistible and keeps everyone coming back for more.
