🥮  IF YOU LOVE FLAKY TEOCHEW MOONCAKES, SAVE THIS ONE!

@swatowrestaurant has been serving Teochew favourites since 2010, and they’re especially known for their signature flaky Teochew mooncakes — that delicate, buttery pastry that just keeps you reaching for another bite.

Our picks 👇🏻

🥮 Flaky Teochew Orh Nee Paste with Single Yolk: Flaky, fragrant pastry wrapped around smooth, creamy yam paste with a savoury single yolk in the centre.

🥮 Flaky Teochew “Yuan-Yang” Black Sesame & Bean Paste with Single Yolk: Delicious mix of nutty black sesame and sweet bean paste, finished with a single yolk — rich without being too overwhelming.

Definitely one to consider if you’re looking for a box to share with family, gift to friends or colleagues… or simply keep for yourself.

... Read moreHaving tried Swatow Restaurant's flaky Teochew mooncakes multiple times, I can confidently say they capture the authentic taste of traditional Teochew pastries with a modern twist. The combination of flaky, buttery layers with well-balanced fillings makes each bite memorable. The Orh Nee Paste mooncake stood out to me — the smooth, creamy yam paste paired with a salty single yolk creates a perfect harmony of sweet and savory that isn’t overly rich. Meanwhile, the “Yuan-Yang” mooncake intrigued me with its black sesame and bean paste blend. The nutty aroma from black sesame combined with the sweetness of the bean paste was delightful, and the salted yolk added an extra dimension. Aside from taste, the packaging is thoughtfully designed for easy gifting, making it an excellent choice for Mid-Autumn family reunions or as a congratulatory gift to friends and colleagues. If you’re interested in pairing, I also recommend trying these mooncakes with a cup of Pu-Erh or Jasmine tea, which enhances the flavors and balances the pastry’s richness. Overall, Swatow Restaurant’s flaky mooncakes offer a sincere experience for anyone looking to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with traditional yet elegant Teochew treats.
