Day in the life of a SAHM of 2 girls
As a SAHM of two energetic girls, my days are a beautiful whirlwind of laughter, tiny tantrums, and endless love. It’s a constant juggle, but I wouldn't trade these precious moments for anything. If you're curious about what a real day in our life looks like, grab a coffee and join me! Our mornings usually kick off around 6:30 AM, though let's be honest, it's often earlier when I hear a sweet, sleepy voice from the next room asking, "Mommy, I want some nummies!" That's my cue to spring into action! We start with a cozy breakfast – usually oatmeal or cereal, sometimes with a side of fruit. It's a race against time to get everyone fed, dressed, and ready for the day. Getting two little ones to agree on an outfit can sometimes feel like a diplomatic negotiation, but we get there eventually! Once breakfast is done and bellies are full, we move into our morning activities. This might involve some quiet play with blocks or puzzles, or if the weather is nice, a quick trip to our local park here in Chicago. I love watching them explore and burn off some energy. Sometimes, we'll have a creative session with crayons or playdough, letting their imaginations run wild. My girls absolutely adore playing with their favorite little elf toy, affectionately named 'Elfy,' who often gets into silly scenarios around the house, sparking endless giggles. Just yesterday, we found 'Elfy' trying to 'fly' off the bookshelf! After a busy morning, it's time for lunch, usually followed by some quiet time or a nap for the younger one. This is my chance to catch up on a few chores, answer emails, or simply enjoy a rare moment of silence with a hot cup of tea. The afternoons often involve more structured play, like reading books together from our vast collection or practicing their ABCs and 123s. We might also run a quick errand to the grocery store or the library. On special occasions, especially around the holidays, they get so excited if we spot a store display, and they just have to stop to say hi to 'Santa' – even if it's months away from Christmas! As the afternoon winds down, we start thinking about dinner. Getting two little ones to agree on a meal can be another adventure, but I try to involve them in the cooking process, even if it's just stirring a pot or setting the table. After dinner, it's bath time, followed by snuggles and bedtime stories. Those quiet moments before they drift off to sleep are some of my most cherished. Being a SAHM is a constant learning curve, full of challenges and triumphs, but the love and joy these two girls bring into my life make every single day worth it. What does your day as a mom look like?
