Linguine and Clams Recipe🍋

Step 1: Get out pot to boil water for pasta, and a skillet to make sauce. #two cans of clams and can of #tomato sauce, open bottle of #cooking red wine , open jar of minced garlic #salt, #pepper, #red pepper flakes, box of #linguine, #olive oil.

Step 2: Put enough water in pot to boil 1/2 box of linguine, cover pot with top and set burner on high. While you are waiting for water to come to a boil, pour olive oil in skillet, just enough to cover bottom of skillet and no more 1/8 of an inch deep, enough to simmer minced garlic. Then, put in 2 teaspoons of minced garlic in skillet and spread across the bottom of skillet. Once garlic is in skillet put that burner on high until you start to see the garlic begin sizzling, immediately put the burner on medium low and stir garlic until it is sauteed.

Step 3: Once garlic is lightly, not burned, sauteed , immediately pour in both cans of clams slowly so it doesnt splash. Stir everything in skillet. Now turn burner up to medium to bring sauce to slow boil. Do this for five minutes. At the same time get your half box of pasta into boiling water. Take top off pot. Boil for 10 minutes.

Step 4: After sauce is boiling slowly for 5 minutes, you need to then add 4 tablespoons of cooking wine, 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, pinch of red pepper flakes. Stir together for 5 more minutes on medium to low burner

Most important is not to burn minced garlic while sauteeing it...you must make sure olive oil doesn't get too hot because it will burn it in 30 seconds on high. Take skillet off burner if you see it is too hot

... Read moreHey fellow foodies! I just wanted to jump in and share a few more thoughts on making your Linguine and Clams experience even better, especially if you're like me and always looking for easy, cheap dinner recipes that really hit the spot. That recipe you just saw? It's a fantastic starting point for a truly delicious and comforting meal! First off, let's talk pasta. I know some of you might be wondering about using "1 cup cooked spaghetti" and how that compares to the "1/2 box of linguine" mentioned. It's a great question because portion sizes can be tricky! While both linguine and spaghetti are long, thin pastas, linguine is flatter and wider than spaghetti, giving it a slightly different texture and often allowing it to hold sauces a bit more. But guess what? You can absolutely substitute spaghetti for linguine in this recipe – the flavors will still be amazing! Now, for that "1 cup cooked spaghetti" query: A standard 1-pound (454g) box of dry pasta, like linguine, typically yields about 8 cups when cooked. So, "1/2 box" would give you roughly 4 cups of cooked pasta, which is usually enough for 2-4 servings depending on appetite. If you're aiming for a single serving of "1 cup cooked spaghetti," you'd need about 2 ounces (56 grams) of dry pasta. The easiest way to measure for precise portions, whether it's linguine or spaghetti, is often with a kitchen scale. Or, if you don't have one, many pasta boxes have serving size guidelines, or you can use a pasta measuring tool that has holes for different portion sizes. Just remember, the goal is a satisfying meal, so adjust to your hunger! Beyond the basics, this recipe is super adaptable, making it one of my go-to cheap dinner recipes when I'm on a budget but still crave something special. To make it even more economical, keep an eye out for sales on canned chopped clams – they're a lifesaver! And if you don't have cooking wine, a splash of chicken or vegetable broth can work in a pinch for flavor, though the wine does add a lovely depth. For an extra burst of freshness, I always recommend stirring in a generous handful of fresh chopped parsley right at the end, just before serving. It brightens everything up! A squeeze of fresh lemon juice over the top also adds a fantastic zing that complements the clams wonderfully. If you like a little more heat, don't be shy with those red pepper flakes. You can even sauté a finely diced shallot or a bit of onion with the garlic in Step 2 for another layer of aromatic flavor. This isn't just an easy meal; it's a foundation for a complete dinner. Pair your Linguine and Clams with a simple green salad dressed with vinaigrette and some crusty garlic bread to soak up all that delicious sauce. It turns an already great dish into a truly memorable, yet still cheap and easy, weeknight feast. It's the kind of comforting, homemade goodness that makes you feel like a star chef without all the effort. Enjoy your cooking!
