✈️ We Made It to Iwakuni ✨

We have officially landed in Iwakuni, and I am equal parts excited, tired, and emotionally attached to my snacks.

Tokyo was incredible, but now it’s time for:

• family time

• good food (the real kind)

• new adventures

• and pretending jet lag is a personality trait

Patient pants are still on.

Snacks are still secured.

Expect cozy moments, chaos, and at least one “wow, that was worth it” experience.

Adventure: continuing. 💛

... Read moreIwakuni, located in Yamaguchi Prefecture, is renowned for its stunning landmark, the Kintai Bridge (錦帯橋), a series of five wooden arches that gracefully span the Nishiki River. This historical bridge is not only a photo-worthy attraction but also a symbol of traditional Japanese craftsmanship dating back to the Edo period. Visiting during spring offers breathtaking views of cherry blossoms around the bridge, enhancing the scenic beauty and overall experience. Beyond the bridge, Iwakuni offers rich cultural sites and local flavors that make family time truly special. Try exploring the Iwakuni Castle situated on Mount Shiroyama, which provides panoramic views of the city and the Seto Inland Sea. The castle grounds are perfect for casual hikes, combining light adventure with cultural immersion. Food lovers will delight in sampling Iwakuni cuisine, especially the city's famous grilled eel (unagi) dishes, which are prepared using secret family recipes passed down for generations. Local markets and small eateries offer authentic tastes that can’t be missed. Additionally, exploring nearby towns such as Yanai City offers a chance to savor Suo-Oshima delicacies, sometimes called "Hawaii of the Seto Inland Sea," noted for its gentle climate and fresh seafood. When jet lag settles in, think of it as part of the adventure and embrace it as a quirky travel companion. Staying patient and keeping snacks close—as mentioned—helps maintain energy for exploration and family bonding moments. Whether you're strolling through serene streets or discovering charming coastal spots, the blend of cozy relaxation and lively discovery makes Iwakuni an ideal destination for travelers seeking genuine Japanese hospitality and engaging escapades. Overall, continuing your journey in Iwakuni not only enriches your travel diary but offers a deep connection with Japanese heritage, scenic beauty, and heartwarming family experiences.
