Okay, so you've heard about Chops Grille on Royal Caribbean, right? But have you considered it for LUNCH? Let me tell you, it's truly one of my best-kept cruise secrets, especially on the Explorer of the Seas! While everyone else is flocking to the Windjammer, you could be enjoying a truly elevated dining experience that feels super luxurious without breaking the bank for dinner. First off, the ambiance is a step above. It's quieter, more intimate, and the service is always impeccable. But let's talk about the food – because that's what we're really here for! The menu offers an incredible selection, far beyond what you might expect. For starters, you absolutely have to try The Wedge salad. It’s classic for a reason, with that perfect balance of crisp iceberg lettuce, blue cheese crumbles, and smoked bacon with sweet and spicy glaze. If you're feeling a bit more adventurous, the Pan-Seared Crab Cake with chipotle aioli is a dream, or indulge in the rich, velvety Lobster Bisque with brandy tarragon cream. I’ve also heard rave reviews about the Wild Mushroom Soup, scented with white truffle oil – pure decadence! And for seafood lovers, the Colossal Shrimp Cocktail is a fantastic choice, especially with that tangy horseradish cocktail sauce. Don't overlook the fresh Tuna Tartare with avocado ginger and wasabi caviar for something light and flavorful. Now, for the main event: the steaks. This is a steakhouse, after all! You can't go wrong with any of their hand-cut selections. The Filet is always a winner – so tender and perfectly seared. If you're a true steak connoisseur, the Bone-In Ribeye is a must-try, known for its incredible marbling and flavor. And don't overlook the NY Strip if you like a firmer texture with robust taste. They come with your choice of delicious sauces like peppercorn, Béarnaise, or Bordelaise. Beyond steak, they offer other fantastic entrees like the Organic Roasted Chicken, which is surprisingly moist and flavorful, or the Grilled Atlantic Salmon with a whole grain mustard sauce. If you're craving something a bit different, the Spicy Jumbo Shrimp with red pepper flakes and creamy garlic butter, or even a Broiled Maine Lobster (for an additional charge) are excellent choices. The Grilled Branzino is another great option for a lighter, flaky fish. And let’s not forget the sides – they’re designed for sharing and are just as impressive as the mains! The Gruyere Cheese Tater Tots are legendary, trust me on this. And you absolutely must order the Creamed Spinach and Sautéed Mushrooms in veal demi-glace – they complement any steak perfectly. The Truffled French Fries are another standout, offering a gourmet twist on a classic. The Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes are always a safe, delicious bet, too. While the lunch menu might not always list all the elaborate dessert options you see at dinner, trust me, they still have fantastic sweet endings to complete your meal. Always ask your server what's available; you might be pleasantly surprised! From rich chocolate cakes to refreshing sorbets, they know how to finish a meal right. So, is Chops Grille for lunch on the Explorer of the Seas worth it? A resounding YES! It’s a phenomenal way to treat yourself to a special, unhurried meal. Make sure to book it early, as it tends to fill up quickly, even for lunch. You’ll leave feeling incredibly satisfied and ready to enjoy the rest of your cruise adventure!
