OC drawing time-lapse
Here's a time-lapse drawing of my original characters! #art #artist #artistsoflemon8 #artwork #oc
It's so cool to see my OCs come to life in a time-lapse! There's nothing quite like the feeling of watching your creations take shape. For me, drawing original characters is all about expressing myself and bringing unique personalities into the world. If you're like me and love diving into character creation, you know the struggle and joy of ideation! When I'm brainstorming new characters, I often think about what kind of stories I want to tell or what emotions I want to convey. Sometimes I get inspired by existing universes, which is where the idea of fanart comes in. Even though my art might be of my own OCs, exploring fanart for things like the 'Unstable SMP' can spark so many creative ideas! You can think about how your own characters would fit into different worlds, what their role would be, or how their design would adapt to that aesthetic. It’s a fantastic way to push your creative boundaries and develop characters that feel truly unique but also resonate with popular themes. Character creation isn't just about drawing a cool design; it's about building a whole persona. I always try to think about their backstory – where do they come from? What are their quirks? What makes them tick? This helps in making them feel real, even if they only exist on paper or screen. For example, when I'm designing a character, I might think, 'What kind of personality would make them stand out, like a memorable character such as Doxkitty (if Doxkitty is a known character with a strong personality/design)?' Giving your character a distinct voice and visual style makes them much more engaging. Another tip for ideation? Don't be afraid to experiment! Doodle different outfits, hairstyles, or even species. Sometimes the best ideas come from random sketches. I keep a sketchbook just for quick character concepts. It's all about letting your imagination run wild and not judging your initial ideas too harshly. You can combine elements from different sources – a bit of fantasy, a dash of sci-fi, and a sprinkle of real-world inspiration. And for those of you looking to really express yourselves with character creation, remember that every detail matters. From the color palette to their posture, everything contributes to their story. Use your characters as a canvas for your emotions and ideas. Whether you're drawing for fun, for a personal project, or even hoping to contribute to a community with 'Unstable SMP fanart,' the process of bringing a character to life is incredibly rewarding. Keep practicing, keep sketching, and keep letting your creativity flow!
